Hi all

Has anyone ordered one fo the new Weatherbeeta Freestyle combo 220g rugs recently, red/white/blue or brown/turquise?

Just wondered what people thought of them? I brought one and had it on my horse one night and he had a wet bum in the morning!

The fit is great it has to be said but not very happy about a new rug leaking so i thought I would ask if anyone else has had the same problem or I have a dud rug!

Cheers

Once your rug is dry . where your horse was wet , splash some water onto the rug . It should bead off , if it soaks into the rug then there could be a problem. Try on a patch that your horse was dry under , and see if you get the same as the damp patch. Weatherbeeta will tell you to take it back to where you got it from , they will also want to know the weather conditions when your horse got wet. If it was heavy rain and windy , they'll say that the rain drove into the rug or under it or the horse maybe overheated .
So have your info and test done before you go back to the shop so you can tell them what has happened and what you have checked.
I worked in a tack shop for over 10 years , Weatherbeeta being a main item we stocked , so I know the questions, tests and wriggling out answers that they'll do !
Good Luck !

Yep above the bum so yes probably the seam but surely that's not acceptable, there was no wind and the rain wasn't that heavy!

I have had loads of weatherbeeta's and never had this problem...

Robinsons won't take it back and weatherbeeat are denying that its a fault! I have never brought a rug and it leak within 24 hours of using it, I have rugs with rips in which don't even leak..!

Their customer service has been horrendous saying its acceptable to have that, my 4-5 year old rugs dont leak still! anywhere!!

IF , they will not do anything , you could say about "fit for purpose " and say you'll get trading standards involved . Im fairly sure that if its not doing the job ( and new and not mis-treated and used under normal circumstances ) then you should be ok to chase WBeeta. Id put all in emails or letters so you have it all in black and white of who said what and when . I have to say that in all the years I dealt with WB we had very few rugs that had problems but when there was a problem WB never admitted a problem and never replaced a rug. Horseware,Shires, Fal,Masta ....IF ... there was a problem and ( after the tests and weather taken into consideration ) it seemed to be a faulty rug , they always replaced the rug.... WBeeta , never did .

Thanks for your replies

Neither are budging so gona try the trading standards route and also mentioned the fact that no where on Robinsons or Westherbeeta website does it state they can leak!

I don't understand why they wouldn't waterproof the seam, its not exactly hard!

Doesn't sound like I am going to get anywhere reading your comments 'somethingillremember' which is a shame as I won't ever buy from them again and yet I have always had such good service, I have loads of different makes and none have ever leaked :(

Yes , its a shame . The few rugs that they do have problems with they know out weigh all thousands of rugs they sell which are fine. Now on one hand you think well WB can afford to replace the few problem ones but on the other they know that problem rugs are few and far between and by saying no to you its not even a drop in the ocean to them ... they dont care ... they make plenty of money, you and your purchase are nothing to them .... if you and your horse and customer service meant anything to them they would replace the rug .... but they wont . Sorry , but thats what they are like.
Id get in touch with trading standards re "fit for purpose" and see what happens
