Hi all

I'm just about to buy a new winter turnout for my 14.2hh connemara, so only looking for lightweight one as she's got plenty of blubber!

I like the look of the weatherbeeta landa - has anyone got one? What do you think of them? What's the freestyle system about and does it work? Or just another gimic!

Any advice greatly appreciated!

I have an old style landa, its the checked one and i love it. It fits my lad really well. Have no idea about the freestyle thing lol but i'd recommend a landa lite anyway

I love the WB range, but I'm not too impressed with the Landa Lite that I bought last summer. They are only 600 denier and it has quite a few holes/tears in it, when it's been on a horse that really looks after his rugs and all his others are only muddy and no tears. The 200gm MW Landa is quite good on him, most odd, hence why I am looking for an orican LW.

All my rugs are WB, my boy is a heavy roller and I have never had any rips or tears and it fits well over his broad shoulders and backside! Can't fault them...I have had my original one for 3 winters now.

Nay - I had a heavy weight version of the Landa Freestyle, looked like a great fit, till I turned her out. Rug kept going backwards and getting tight on her chest, started rubbbing hair off shoulders and loins by day three, so gave up and brought a rambo. I don't buy anything bar rhino/rambo now.

I use a weatherbeeter lander on my 2 year old and with in a week of buying it she riped it! but i must say it does fit her very well, but this winter i am looking at trying a mark todd new zealand.

ive also got the old style wb lanta, its a heavyweight one tho. its great, fits nicely and keeps mine snug. however because a section of the fence has barbed wire on it, he managed to put a few rips in it. but still going strong!

I brought a secondhand m/w landa combi off ebay. My TB mare winterted out in it & it was fantastic. Very little rubbing (bear in mind that she was in 24/7). It didn't leak or tear.

Got a Landa the other day, its a perfect fit for my chucky IDx with a massive chest as the darts are in the right position at the front, and not at the side of his legs.

Only shame is that i got the slate/heather colour...and he is a ginger boy. he looks like a girl in his pink rug!

i have landa's and landa lites very impressed with them fit my big chested cob well and keep the both horses who wear them warm and dry, good value for money at their price.

I love weatherbeetas. All mine are kitted out in them for winters. However I must say I dont like the Landa, my old boy wears it ocassionally but I find it can leak, and also he's ripped little parts which is odd considering the pony never touches rugs! I just dont think its tough enough. Id say not good enough for winter (unless its a dry day!) but fine rest of the year.

Love my Oricans and Arions though. Fabulous rugs. The freestyle system is good, my FS oricans didnt rub my boys chests and the tail flaps are massive which is a really nice touch.
