Been trawling the internet for hours for 6'6 no-fill T/O rugs. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the Landa and the Genero is? Both the same sale price and both vile brown colours! Am I also right in thinking that Masta's are a no go? Have been a PE girl since they started but the waterproofness of the 40/00's seems to be suspect so looking for a new brand. Thank you.

The Genero is a cheaper, like Amigo is to Rambo. It doesn't have any shoulder dart, there may be other differences but since I don't have a Genero I can't be sure.

You might also find the Original Landa and the Freestyle Landa, the difference between these is the position of the shoulder dart. The original is like other rugs a big dart over the shoulder, the Freestyle has a small dart at the front with a shaped shoulder piece. The fit is slightly different between the two, I find the freestyle fits my Welsh D best.

Hope this helped :D

I've got a version of all of them! The genero is ok but if your horse has a big chest they can be a bit tight as they don't have a shoulder dart, I bought one last winter for my youngster and it was pretty good to say it was cheap, the freestyles I probably prefer as they have the big tail flaps, waterproof wise mine have all been fine

If your horse suits Weatherbeeta, also have a look out for a Saxon lightweight. The fit is very similar and they are neat little waterproof rugs.

I've got a Weatherbeeta Landa freestyle and I think main difference is the shoulder darts and the tail cover which is more extensive (like a short skirt!) than in the original Landa (just a tail flap!). The Robinson's sale had the Landa Freestyle in a nice heather blue and grey but they seemed to go really quickly but might be worth a check or a general search on internet for other places that might stock them cheaply. I've only got Weatherbeeta rugs (across 7 years) and been really pleased with all of them.

Thanks guys, that was really helpful. Managed to get a local tack shop to price match a Landa at £34 so I can try it on and if it fits get another from Robinson's for horse number 2. I hadn't realised there was an original and a freestyle, as I said I've been with PE for years so not up on the other brands. Is the Joules version just a Landa aswell? http://www.robinsonsequestrian.com/600d-standard-neck-lite.html http://www.robinsonsequestrian.com/landa-original-turnout.html I can't see a difference and it's is almost worth paying the extra so as not to get the retro design!

yes the joules ones are identical, they just come in different (usually funky) colour patterns.

My horse suits the original style better as the freestyle ones tend to rub at the shoulders so trying one on yours is a good idea, you will see if the shape fits.

:D

weatherbeeta dont do the freestyle in LW anymore, sadly,i think it was the best by far. Ive just managed to get one on ebay though but they are a bit like hensteeth.

Thought i'd also add that the landa's come up really big too!! I have a 6'9 weatherbeeta fleece which fits my boy perfect, as he's still a baby (2 year old) and growing, so bought a 7' to 'grow into' well it hangs off him by about 9 inches (work that one out!!)

So, I feel a little bad now (but not bad enough to take it back) the one my mother has just delivered to me turns out to be a freestyle. It was £75 in the shop and my mother asked them to pricematch. She finally got it for £38 - I don't think either of them knew what they were buying/selling! What a bargain! Good news is that it fits one horse brilliantly and the other its a little loose at the front so the original should be fine. Off to order it now - bargains all round today!!

Thanks for your help everyone, oh and I have to say it looks a more substantial rug than the PE lightweight so another reason I'm happy.

glad you got sorted :D

it was a combo version i was looking for so maybe thats why:confused: i posted on here searching for a freestyle and any links peeps gave me were either for very odd sizes only or standard neck, someone said they dont make them now. anyway, great rug:D
