weatherbeeta rug - genero - not so waterproof

Bought my 2yr old welsh D a waterprof rug to wear in this awful rain and decided on the weatherbeeta genero. Popped it on him last night as knew today was going to be bad weather, came down at 10 this morning to find him shivering and wet through!! not just round the edges but completley soaked everywhere taking it back tomorrow to where i bought it from thing is he has had a roll and its filthy, surely they will still except it back or do you think its best to go to weatherbeeta directly with an email??

To be honest if you've had the rain we have and it's only a 600D i'm not suprised.
I've put 1200D's back on mine and praying they cope in this torrential stuff

You have to go back to where you brought it from. Weatherbeeta will not deal with you directly.

You need to clean it off so it is not plastered in mud and make sure it is dry. They will not accept it back dirty and wet. It's Health and Safety.

TBH I don't think any 600d turnout rug is properly waterproof. A rug with a 600d outer shell provides more like a heavy showerproof level of waterproofness.

Personally, I only invest in 1200d+ rugs these days and if one of mine is going to be out in persistent torrential rain I'll double these up so the horse has 2400d worth of waterproofing to keep it dry and warm. I have lightweight Amigo XL 1200d rugs that I use as the extra outer layer. It works. Even if the outer rugs gets a bit damp and wet, the inside rug will always be dry enough to keep the horse comfortable.

Not sure Weatherbeeta will expect a 600d rug to be totally waterproof, although that said the rug packaging does say 'waterproof' but doesn't specify to what degree. I'll be interested to hear what they say about it.
