Help! I have had my 7/8 weatherbeeta rugs for over 8 years now and impressed with quality etc they are all 6ft3 and fit my boy lovely. Recently bout a new heavy & medium weight turnout in 6ft3 as usual so a little annoyed (bought them on ebay new) that the 6ft 3 now comes up a little to short ( not much say a couple of inches) but i think a 6ft6 would be slightly too big??

Has anyone else had this issue with weatherbeeta and im sure the quality is no longer as good as it used to be??

Terrible, I tried and failed to find a Weatherbeeta to fit my pony, the worst I found was about 4 inches shy of fitting and the best still a couple of inches out! I only buy their fleeces and just get the next size up in those.

I too have found weatherbeetas to be much bigger than they used to be- far too wide in the chest and bum.

I did find a couple of years ago that rambos were coming up smaller than before: my 5'6 ( she is definitely not growing at 40) is now in a 5'9, and my 5'9 (also not growing at 19!) is now in a 6' despite being a size smaller for over 10yrs...

maybe it's middle aged spread?!

There is something in that - when my mare is carrying more weight she is a 5' 9", but when she's slim can squeeze in to a 5'6.

Interesting point re quality of weatherbeetas now - I have a few old ones I was debating whether to clean or replace but they are now about twice the amount I paid for the first freestyle ones! Think I'll be getting them cleaned!

My rain sheets and turnout rugs are all Weatherbeeta except for 2 that I bought due to the boys playing chasey in the paddock with their teeth and ripping big holes in them Weatherbeeta ones.

I also have polar fleece coolers, woolens and cotton sheets

My 14.3hh boy is in a 5'9 in all rugs and my 16hh boy is quite short backed and in a 6' in everything. The Weatherbeeta rugs fit the best out of all my rugs. The are fine across the chest (little man is narrow chested, big boy is built like a sherman tank), fine in length and fine over the hindquarters.

I love them and will def be getting new Weatherbeeta ones when these rugs die - hopefully not for a while as the oldest one of them is just coming up to 3 years old.

Because i am bored i have fired off an email to weatherbeeta... still awaiting reponse! :-) may try JHL rugs instead, shame as the quality of weatherbeeta used to be excellent think 8 years of heavy use and they are still apart from a few tiny holes in good nick and still waterproof!

My newest weatherbeeta would be about 2 or 3 years old now, have to say i've been impressed by them, but not sure where they come with sizing!! I have a belmont stable with comes up big, a landa lite which comes up small a genero lite which comes up small, a taka heavy which comes up big!! lol!!

Weatherbeeta have always been praised for their wider, more generous fit (I personally love them) although I have a tristar which seems to be extremely wide on the neck, even on my heavy cob. I get where you're coming from, the shapes seem a bit inconsistent depending the model - the landas are very different to the tristar, which is very different from the fleeces etc etc etc which can be so frustrating!!

If you're looking for a less baggy (and probably more size consistent) brand then I recommend you try masta if you haven't already - I have a bogstandard turnout (think it's a zing but not sure) and it fits snug and well and the quality's fab, although they do need reproofing a lot more often than a weatherbeeta would :)

I've had Weatherbeetas the 9 years I've had my pony and been really pleased with the turnout rugs - mine just has the freestyle Landas, either no fill or medium weight - he's 14.1hh and has the 5'6". Maybe the fit just depends on the horse as with most things. The one Masta Zing mediumweight I got him wasn't such a good fit.
