I am interested in ordering a Weatherbeeta rug online, but Ive never had a winter turnout from them before and I want to make sure the fit will be right. My boy is a 16.2 (ish) large framed IDx. His actual measurement is 6 foot 7, and I prefer full neck t/o rugs to be a bit generous in case I want to put an under-rug under them, so I was planning on ordering a 7ft rug.

Does anyone own a Weatherbeeta who can comment on the generosity of the fit?

I love Weatherbeeta's. Those and FAL's are really the only ones I use and rate.

TBH I find them spot on size-wise. I use them on a very slim TB type and also a rather chunky Welsh Sec D - both take a 6ft in WB just as they do in every other type of rug. They fit really well, especially my chunky one (where FAL's and Rambo's have been a bit tight on him).

It really depends on the size of under-rug you put on (ie. how bulky?) as to if you go up a size. I can fit a stable rug on easily under my TB's one, but my Welshie doesnt need an under-one so cant comment there.

Possibly borrow one from a local tack shop and try it on with and without the under-rug??

Another one who loves weatherbeeta's!
They fit my girl perfectly she's a welsh x I often layer another weatherbeeta lightweight stable rug underneath her medium weight and causes no problems.

Agree with M_M that there fit is pretty much spot on, but with room to layer one rug (probably not more than one)

Weatherbeetas are the perfect fit for any horse IMO! They are the ONLY(and we tried them all) brand of rug that didn't rub my Fell Pony's shoulders so I have used them without fail for all of my ponies since and the Haffie will be getting her new winter one soon too!

I have weatherbeeta rugs for my pure IDs and ID x TB and I love the fit of them.

They don't cost the earth but fit our girls' big shoulders and necks nicely. The negatives I have found are, which probably won't affect you if you are buying a size bigger than required 1) the high neck rugs caused pressure points on my biggest mares' withers when she grazed. She is an exception mind you and I have now gone for the standard ones with seperate neck covers. 2) They aren't particularly deep either and again my biggest mares' sides are only just covered! Looks a bit crop-toppy on her but she is a biggie!!

jays in a 6'6 in WB and fit him pretty well, the old style were far to tight at the hood for him, hes idxtb

I only buy weatherbeeta rugs now, I find they fit perfectly for my TB. I did find that they rubbed his shoulders tho after a while, but only because he has typical very fine TB hair, and this I now prevent with a bossy's bib. He rubs with any make a rug though so I don't hold it against weatherbeeta rugs at all.

IMO they are very good rugs, great fit, great shape and very durable. He takes 6ft in all other rugs and a 6ft in weatherbeeta rugs, so they are neither big or small in their sizing, if that makes sense!

I see from the new Derby House catalogue that they've brought out some new colours...I'm sure my boy needs a new one!!

Weatherbeeta rugs = the greatest rugs of all time

Verrry chucky IDxTB(<<<in sig) he's 17.1hh and they fit him with a lightweight underrug he's 7ft - 7ft3 but in weatherbeeta he's 7ft.

I only use Weatherbeeta, I think they're really by far the best, and great value for money.

I have a horse of similar dimensions to yours

and he is in 6'9" Weatherbeeta's and they are just right. A 7' would be too big for him.
