I won a weatherbeeta thermocell in a magazine competition during the summer. Ned has worn it at night for a week and it has split at the top front buckle - almost as if it has torn along the perforations left by the stitching. It is the right size - fits fine. Didn't slip back at all. I can't see any reason for there to have been excessive pressure on the front buckles.

Has anyone else experienced this with these rugs? I've never seen anything like it. I've tried contacted Weatherbeeta but they just tell me to take it back to the store I bought it from - which obviously I can't.

I love the rug - but if this is a common problem I'm not forking out a lot of money for another one!

Yep, had exactly the same thing happen with mine last year. My filly hardly wore it and it pulled away at the front fixings. I ended up taking it home and reinforcing the material underneath the front fixings.

I bought myself another genuine Thermatex for this year. I don't think the cheaper versions are worth the money :)

It's tricky, I had a Weatherbeeta rug which lasted 3 years which was fantastic, but they are pricey. I guess there is always the chance that you might get a dud, it's just a shame you can't return it anywhere...I'm suprised that weatherbeeta won't take it back from you and just swap it.

I am looking at getting a Masta horse rug from Equestrian Outfitters.co.uk this season, it's cheaper than a weatherbeeta and in the year of austerity I am looking after the pennies....

Fingers crossed it lasts at least two years.......I wouldn't give my Larry up for anything but sometimes (October/November) you realize how expensive they are....!

Had mine a couple of years. He wears it as a stable rug as well as for travelling/post exercise and it looks as good as new ('cept for all the shavings stuck to it!!)
