Weatherbeeta Tri Star rugs - anyone got one and what you do think to them?

Got one, really like it.

The fit is excellent on wider or deeper horses and has well placed darts rather that those new stupid 'shoulder cup' things. It's a different (and better) fit than their other rugs.

Outer material is VERY hard wearing and very waterproof - 1850denier and our serial rug ripper hasn't managed to destory. It's got a 100g lining so a brilliant lightweight rug.

Stable rugs is decent fit too but I found that without surgingles, it slips badly when used on it's own. So I just got cheap surcingles added.

Makes a good thick rug when addded together.

Neck peice is a bit annoying - stays on very well, doesn't flip up at all and doesn't seem to rub BUT it's a no fill so not ideal for fully clipped horses. AND, if you loose it (which I have) you can't buy another (although apparently Premier Equine ones fit).

I just wish they did a intregal full neck middleweight version from the same material and same fit :o I can't really be bothered with dou type rugs since my horses aren't stabled. Friend finds it brill for her stabled horse though.

Thanks for your detailed reply, thats great. My other horse has a Rambo Duo and I love it but the Weatherbeeta Tri Star is half the price and I want something for my chunky monkey ISH. He has a Landa and that fits him well so thought this one would do the trick and as said, its half the price. I also like the big tail flaps, they are great for winter. Just wish the colour wasnt grey, will show up the dirt more than anything else. Oh well, cant have everything and I can wash it myself, thats my job fortunately!

I got mine here. Cheap compared to the local tack shop. I like the shoulder darts as I do think they give better movement and don't get pulled around when they roll etc. They clean up pretty well to.

A friend and I got a couple cheap (£60) in a sale last year. They fitted really well (broad connie and ID mare), never leaked and I found they didn't damage the mane nearly as much as the Landa and Oricon full necks which took out half of my other horses mane. I also managed to get the other 2 liners cheap (£40 for the 2) and this gave a really flexible rugging solution. Unless your horses is a serious cold bod I would not bother with the 300g liner as my fully clipped boy coped even in the artic depths of last winter with just the 200g liner. The 100g liner is however very useful as the rug comes with 100g filling and a 200g liner so it is quite a jump up if you add the liner supplied. I don't use the liners as stable rugs so the lack of surcingles didn't cause me a problem. They didn't rub at all and our fields are very exposed and the wrap round tail flaps keep them really warm and dry.
