having had PE rug with all the liners rub her really badly last year on her wither I am going back to weatherbeeta as they have wither relief. looking at the latest rideaway catalogue the only ones they have with detachable neck are 1200D or 1680D but they are not cheap. I just wondered if anyone had one as they are both heavyweight and dont seem to do a medium weight so you go from the 100g outer to a 400g as it has a 300g liner.

has anyone got one, what do they think. we need 1200 or 1680 as we get cold wet weather and she is a 16.3 wb who is out during the day all winter unless it snows. she is thin skinned and will be half clipped.

the one i am looking at has teflon coating etc grey one.

she had the orican one before but they dont make that now.

Also have a taka - it's my favourite rug - love it and it has withstood three winters now and still looks perfect.

Highly recommend!

I have a weatherbeeta stretch combo 1000d and its wonderful for keeping the cold and rain out, but rubbed my TB badly on her withers. Saying that she is out all year and wears her rugs 24/7 from October to April (this year :O/ ) so its not surprising. She didn't have much muscle to her last year so it was a bit of a low but dress on her but fit my other one fine who is a more substantial type. Good rugs... I also bought an Amigo HW for half the price which was equally as good ... too many choices !

Yes, the medium and heavyweight freestyle detach a neck.

They are BRILLIANT. The only rug with a neck that doesn't rub, in the slightest. Well worth the money.

For the record, Unicorn Bruces mane has never recovered from his PE rug, and Figs has only just recovered after nearly a year. Find the quality of them shoddy too.

Love weatherbeetas, but last bought the lighter 600d outer with 210g fill with a detach a neck, but they only seem to have the 1200 and 1680 this year, wonder why that is? anyone seen any lighter ones anywhere?

isn't the denier more to do with the thickness of the material used? 1200 or 1620 should be harder for the horse to rip! normally 600 is used on the cheaper version of their rugs, which is why rug companies are able to make cheaper rugs these days!

however, I have an original taka, its about 11yrs old and until I have it cleaned and reproof 2 years go, it was perfect, since that last clean the seams have started to come unstitched in places, but I believe that was the company that cleaned it that caused this problem, as the same thing happened on many other good rugs!

The denier is only to do with the strength of the material, nothing to do with the fill.

The light and medium weights have been upgraded to 1200D as standard this year.
