Does anyone know roughly how long it takes for them to get a bog standard passport (not a TB one) back to you after you sending in the sketch etc? Am I over-optimistic in thinking 2 weeks? And perchance does anyone know if I can do an initial horse registration with the BSJA without one if I promise to send it on later?

Does take about 4 weeks we had to get a change of ownership done, and needed it urgently, they faxed a copy of the passport so we could use it for travelling

Can't help on Weatherbys timescales but if you fax a new registration to the BSJA there is an additional page you sign agreeing to provide the original passport within 28 days. In the meantime you are given a temporary card valid for 28 days so you can jump.

Mine got stolen from my car too!

They took about 3 weeks to do mine, but that was a couple of years ago. Was rather annoyed with them though because they failed to register my boy's breeding on his passport - despite him being registered with the AES and pb Trakehner!

He he, that made me laugh Twiglet as I had exactlt the same. My mare is a russian-papered Trakhener, and Weatherbys put breeding unknown on hers....as well as saying she was chestnut or roan....no, she's CHESTNUT ROAN! Doh!
Have to say, their passports don't look particularly professional, although I got them for my 2 mares that don't really compete etc because they were cheap! My lad's BHS one looks much smarter, as does OH's mare's ISH one.
