My horse is going on loan in December and I was just photocopying her passport when I read the small print and discovered that I never sent off a change of ownership form. I am doing this now, which means I can also fill in the 'keeper' section as she will be on loan by the time the form is processed. As I bought her in April 2011 (I have the receipt) will they still be ok doing the ownership change or am I likey to get in trouble for not doing it within the required 30 days?

Also the spine on her passport is broken, and was when I got her but the small print says the passport is invalid when the spine is broken. Will they be able to just replace this?

I had a horse with a sport horse passport and didn't send it within the 30 days but they didn't charge me, but don't know about weatherbys

I looked at the website lastnight as I need to send off for change of ownership, if you want it done in 28 days its £14.50 or within couple of days its £25.50.

I was trying to look up my new horse's past, and what else I needed to do, the spine of mine is intact on both sides but nothing running down the middle of the spine not sure if this is right or not?.

As per above, you download the application and send it off with the fee required.

Just did mine Thursday after having the horse months! I rang them to ask ... They said it's no problem, legally you are supposed to do it within 30 days but there is no penalty, just pay the regular £14.20 :)

Hmmm, just checked our passport (only paid for her this week) and the owners we bought from didn't update passport last year when they got her from racing yard so last stated owner is the trainer I think. Will Weatherbys just pass over them straight to us when we send it in? Horse is definitely legit as we know full history I think they just didn't bother sending it in. She has been stamped at their address for innocs etc in it?

Yes

Mine still had it's breeder in and they were happy to change to my name with just the correct forms even though it had clearly been through someone else :)

Thanks for posting this Catherine22 - perfect timing as I would have forgotten otherwise! And thanks Jesstickle also; sounds like it should be straightforward :-)

And me, had my boy for a year and a half and had no idea about the 30 days notification and been merrily competeing him totally unaware!! Oops bit of grovelling required to Weatherbys methinks.:D
