I have recently moved yards and at the same time my horse pulled his suspensory ligament. Anyway he is out in a small field with a companion and other horses in fields aroundhim, he has a big stable, plenty of hay and is hacked as per vets instructions daily. He is normally put in stable at 7pm. Anyway I know he weaves in morning to go out but last night I stayed to help another girl who had to vet vet to her horse and was very distressed and every time I saw myhorse he was weaving. he did not touch his hay just was alert and wondering what was happening round the corner.
This has really distressed me and I wonder if he is truly happy or what I can do to make him happier.

Thanks. I am not sure what else I can do to help him. He has loads of hay, massive stable, company both sides and in front. I know he prefers living out but there is not enough grass at new yard and no one else lives out and with suspensory ligament vet says he should not run around.

It can be very distressing to see your horse weave. You may find he will settle in a while but if there are general comings and goings he will continue to be stressed. i know a lot of people swear by a mettalic mirror in the stable to stop the feeling of isolation or the good old goat as a companion if you could cope with that. Sometimes I think they are more inclined to weave if someone is about , they think they may be turned out and once the yard is completly clear they do settle down.
Reassure yourself with the fact that you have done as much as you can to make him comfortable. Good luck (:

Apparently my horse only weaves when im there, she is sooo much better where she is now but i think its because she has more freedom and is able to wander around the yard (when im there) she will even now put herself in her stable and stay in there out of choice!! Her turnout has also increased considerably...but with the winter coming (its already getting cold!!!) im hoping she wont get too upset being stabled more...

I hate seeing them weave...
