Thistles are most effectively treated by biting the flowering heads off and consuming in vast quantities, yum yum.
Docks are best pulled up whole including the roots, swung around in my mouth teasing Sunny until Sunny grabs it and a tug of war ensues. Sunny wins the tug of war so I go and grab another dock and pull it up

Mum and sister both watching laughing, don't know why I thought I was helping clear the field...........

not ripe yet so they are just dying off thankfully! tried to get rid of them last year and lets just say the docks won the battle

Livery yard so not much we can do...........

A farmer told me once that dock seeds can live dormant in the soil for years, just waiting for the chance to stat growing. Along comes some wet weather, lots of hooves running about to churn the ground up and hey presto, off goes the dock.

Dont really stand much of a chance to get rid of them!

You can get rid of them (QR after reading the other posts)

Doxstar is amazing!!!!! I have sprayed a couple of times now and they've stopped coming back. I'm very pleased.

Had less success with Grazon 90 though.

I like Pidge's idea. Topping them before they flower, as spraying isn't really an option as a livery, will help prevent new docks growing next season. That said, Pidge is a very good topper, it would seem.
