the horse...not me!!! lol
have tried to get some guidance on BD forum, but no one seems to know. has anyone had the experience of your horse stopping to wee in the middle of a dressage test but at the start of a movement. my boy decided he could not wait and had to go, bang on A marker at beginning of 3 loop serpentine in prelim 18!!aaaaggghhhh...got 2 for the movement which was a bit of a bugger as he got all 7's and a couple of 6's for the rest of the test and would have been placed. soooooooo, my question is, is there guidance for judges for these instances as to marks that should be given or is it random assessment by judge as to rest of movement and how it was affected by wee!!!!

any one else had it happen?? what marks did you get?? xx

As far as I know there is no penalty for the horse weeing and it makes sense that competitors should allow horses to wee (I have seen the odd one do it at X for the halt) without penalty. However, I can't find anything in the rules about it. If you want to dispute the mark the best thing would be to raise an objection with BD, although it might not be really worth it!

(you may want to move the post in CR or NL as this is for Latest News)

never had a horse wee in a test but i know it is a disobedeance if they stop to poo!!! But they can do that on the go where as they have to stop to wee.

I used to judge on list 3 some years ago and this happened a couple of times while I was judging, on both occasions during the free walk. It's a tricky one for a judge and you aren't given any guidance on training courses about such an eventuality so I guess it's down to the indivdual judge's discretion.

I just commented "when you've gotta go!" and marked the movement as best I could without knocking too much off.

If it was at the start of the serpantine then he would have been carrying out the whole thing without interruption, so I would have a tad peeved if it was clearly reflected in the marks that they had marked him down for having a widdle. Especially if as you say, everything else was 6+7's, so it was clearly a mark down.

As having to pee is natural, its not influenced by training or how you rider etc. And its not like you can MAKE them go before the test!

QR It is utterly ridiculous that a competitor should get marked down at all for their mount taking a pee. For Christ's sake they are fecking animals at the end of the day.
They cannot be toilet trained like dogs for example and even they have moments and don't always pee or poo on command.
Horse and rider should be judged on their ability to perform the moves and transitions, not whether the animal takes a dump or decides to pee!
