Weeing in puddles - why

my cairn bitch has a habit of drinking from puddles when out on walks, and then weeing in them! Seems a bit odd to me - and not nice for whoever comes for a drink next!!! Why does she do this? She also wees on practically every tree, bush etc. I thought it was only dogs that felt the need to scent mark everywhere and not bitches??

My dog likes to pee in puddles on the beach .

My bitch (speyed) will pee on anything and everything outside. She was a stray at some point - so she is fairly territorial.

I see it that she is 'planting her flag' everywhere

both of my bitches pee in streams,puddles and rivers.
im pressuming its just marking territory.

Not in puddles, but my dog managed to cock his leg on a nice Tiso fleece abandoned in the forest, before I could stop him this morning
