Well folks, what’s on the agenda this week?

Last week was very quiet for us - and I think this week will be similar!

Lesson planned at a local riding club tomorrow night, then our friend is hopefully bringing her newbie up to visit on Saturday.

Maybe a Christmas Day hack is on the cards??

Merry Christmas everyone 🎄

This week will be a bit "play it by ear" but I don't have very high expectations! Definitely won't squeeze a lesson in.

I'm working up until Christmas Eve, so will try and squeeze a flatwork session in tonight if I get home at a sensible time and ditto lunge tomorrow. Wednesday we are at the water treadmill.

I won't get to ride Christmas Day as we have too much back and forth with visiting family, I usually like to do a Christmas Morning hack but not going to happen this year! then we go down to visit OH's family for 2 days on Boxing Day. I will ride on Sunday once we are back. 😊

Oh god its Monday, I've lost track already 😂

Will school this evening, Tuesday going out for dinner with a friend so she will have a day off unless I'm very motivated and get out for a hack in the AM. Xmas eve might see if the Yard Teens want to go for a little hack, Xmas day will be nothing as the yard is their home obvs so will be a quiet little (smol)mouse getting jobs done and in and out as quickly as possible. Maybe another hack on boxing day!

If none of this happens and she gets the whole week off I won't care too much.

This is so cute and fun! Pony parties at home!! 😍

Happy Chistmas week everybody!

Rode this morning. We had a horrible jumping clinic on Sat where he slammed the brakes on at everything. Even when the instructor popped everything down to a height he could step over he was saying no.

Had a good poke, prod, massage & stretch yesterday - nothing obvious. Popped on today, did some stretchy schooling and some tiny jumps. No issue at all. Was taking me into them with enthusiasm.

I'm on grass which is slippery & waterlogged so going to pop to my friend's tomorrow to see if we can go a bit bigger.

Also winging it this week as the 3 kids are off school but hubs working until Xmas Eve so I’m very much wings clipped this week and in Xmas ‘mode.
Also we did 2 very hilly long hacks on Saturday and Sunday so he’s due a couple of days off.

Hopefully I may get out for a short hack Xmas Eve and then a longer one on Boxing Day. Sunday hoping to use a local school to work on his walk - trot translations. Daughter rode him Sunday and she did better than me at getting cleaner walk - trot without going through his pacing first!

Schooled and didn't enjoy it. Weh!! 😭 Should maybe have just let her have a day off, she came in starving for some reason and just felt sluggish and like she couldn't be bothered. But we finished better than we started and I kept it short so 🤷‍♀️ we be doing our best

Booked in for a Xmas eve hack with the Teens! Tho one of their ponies had a tooth out and is only just cleared so hasn't been ridden in 8 weeks so uh, we will see if we all make it 😂

Today - OH took Charmer for a hack, I went on foot with the hounds 🐾
Had a lesson this evening at local RC! I was super nervous - not jumped in ages 😬 done lots of pole work etc but not properly left the ground, so this was a nice intro to it - Ace lived up to his name and took everything on with great jollity and enthusiasm, he’s super 😁
A hack planned for both lads tomorrow!

Both lads hacked today, and plan to do same tomorrow. May even chance the two together - I have a likit now and the short loop is only 30 mins, so I hope that might be enough for Ratbag to wait for her boys to get back.
She’s grand while we school together, so I’m hopeful.

Merry Christmas folks 🎄

Happy Christmas!!!

Our festive hack yesterday was off the wall chaos. One pony decided she was starving and went full Thelwell with her head in the verge and refusing to be pulled up. One teen came on foot and was swooshing a stick from the hedge at her back end, that worked but spooked the little one. Sadie was taking full advantage of me and also verge diving while I am struggling to not die laughing. All of them refused to go first so our foot soldier had to lead everybody and then keep running back to haul Thelwell out of the hedge 😂 then when we finally got back, everybody got off for some SANCTIONED grazing because they are good ponies really and one fell on her bum in the ditch dismounting, narrowly avoiding landing in dog poo. My ribs hurt. Nobody could answer their dad "well how was the hack" without cackling again. JOYFUL CHAOS.

Took the lads out today, usually we go individually so that Queen Bee isn’t left on her own, but since it’s a fairly short loop (about 40 mins) and she is fine in her stable while we both ride in the school, decided to chance leaving her for that short spell… let her with her own body weight in hay, and two different types of likit, so she was perfectly happy 😂

Handsome boys!!! 😍 sounds like the Queen if the Yard is getting exactly the treatment she deserves!!

I was on bringing in duty this evening and had the not horsey OH with me (mum even offered to step in to save him 😂) and he got all the mares. Everyone was perfect for him except Sadie, obviously, who dragged him to steal haynets and then squashed him a bit going in the stable door 💀the 22 yo old man reared at me a bit for taking too long to get him 😂

Another hack for us this morning, this time I had Ace and OH had Charmer.

Beautiful, bright & crisp morning.

Then we took the dogs for a run down the field

And have rounded off with our own Christmas dinner (both went to our own parents’ houses yesterday)

Minimal cooking, all courtesy of M&S and a local deli 🤣

Our pal is coming up tomorrow to hack out with us, looks like the focus of these holidays is roadwork 💪

Your dedication sheep!

Sadie got a hand walk down to the nicest bit of grass down the road with a friend (not her friend, the mare and her owner are MY friends) as a little treat. We are also doing our own turkey dinner today but OH is putting all the stops out so I feel obligated to be home to help 😂

May hack tomorrow. Please let this perfect weather hold for a few more days!!

We've had a surprisingly good week, all considered.

Monday - Day off as at Olympia (me that is, not pony 🤣)
Tuesday - A pretty fast 15km hill hack
Christmas Eve - Day off
Christmas Day - 4km hack ft. santa hats, tinsel and Christmas jumpers.
Today - Another pretty speedy 8km hill hack
Tomorrow - Hacking again hopefully somewhere between 10-15km. Hoping for a little less sass but I won''t hold my breath 🤣

I'm in a Twixmas haze from there on and struggling a bit with what days are what ... 🤷‍♀️🤣

Forecast looks pretty decent for the week ahead!!
My “dedication” is only at the level it is because the bay gang are at home, otherwise it would look very different 🤣

So we managed to get out today, daughter on standie and me on friends endurance pony. Well all 4 of us were struggling with energy levels and quite honestly I’ve seen more life in a tramps vest! It was the slowest 6km amble imaginable, maybe we’ve all overeaten and drunk too much!
I’m heading out tomorrow again on standie solo with a 8km route in mind, as I haven’t ridden him in a week ans want to see for myself how he feels. He’s looking a bit footy and may need pads added to his flex boots?

I think we are still Christmas week, right? 🤣

Yesterday - 12 5km hill hack (all our hacks longer than about 3km or so are hilly to varying extents). I cut the route short as he wasn't quite as bouncy as he had been previous days. Don't get me wrong, he was still keen but whether he believes it or not, he is fast approaching 21 so I'd rather be over cautious with him.

I have no firm plans today - will see how how he is & what we feel like doing 😊

I'm checking the day twice a day 😂 but I cant see a weekend thread so

I wanted to do our short there and back hack yesterday but someone decided they didn't want to go left. Right is usually the loop, which we didn't have time for and is a good bit spookier. But right we must go. She snorted the whole way out, seemed surprised when we had to turn and go back before it got dark, then speed walked her horrible little choppy walk all the way home 😂 babe, you chose this!!!! But there was no napping! 🎉

Got out this morning for a hilly 10km, me on endurance pony again and daughter on standie. Whilst mainly at walk but with a few short bursts of trot on the softer sections and both lads were a bit more forward this morning and not so nappy. All in all enjoyable. Same route planned again for tomorrow but in reverse with me on standie and a new girl riding endurance pony, I haven’t ridden with her before but I’m sure we’ll have a giggle.

Off to a Panto this afternoon! Have fun everyone x

Nothing to report here - squeezed in a schooling session on Tuesday, water treadmill on Wednesday and a quiet walking hack with a friend this morning.

Lots of travelling and visiting family so I’m knackered and having a shameless afternoon on the sofa until it’s time to go up and finish the yard off for the evening!

I have just ordered a Rambo dry-liner rug with intentions of cracking on with some more intense work in the new year, no excuses now that I won’t have time to dry off a sweaty horse before turning out!

We did the loop today and the only blip was two massive poodles. I'm almost sure Sadie couldn't tell if they were one creature with 8 legs or 2 creatures with 4 😂 the man walking them was very nice about his perfectly fine and very handsome dogs being treated like a giant piebald spider.

Oh and more gunshots. Or something resembling gunshots. But those were fine because she's a super pony. And she got out to grass for an hour for her troubles and is now a happy mud monster 💕 will do an easy groundwork today tomorrow I think, after a good groom!
