December already… eek!

Relatively quiet for us this week - two evenings off, as OH have joined a new gym and have classes planned 🤣 once we get into the swing of it, I think we will manage to ride as well on this evenings.

So a bit of flatwork / pole work planned, I have a lesson on Friday and will hopefully head out on Saturday for a dressage test or 2 at a local venue.

Pony is having a day off as he did a Trec PTV on the Saturday and an almost 20km hack on Sunday with lots of trotting, cantering and cantery-gallops ... we came home so filty I had to clean my saddle for the first time in 4.5 months 🤣

I think it'll be a quiet week as my non-horsey life gets busier than normal with Christmas 🎅 stuff.

But I'm hoping for:

Tuesday: Polework
Wednesday: Brisk or interval hack
Thursday: Brisk or interval hack
Friday: Flatwork school

Then x 2 longer hacks at the weekend.

He needs re-clipping this week but have no idea where I'll find the time 🤷‍♀️🤣

i’ve got 4 days off in a row this week, so i’m going to get my bum into gear after last week! i don’t have a very definite plan yet though🤣 still just lily to ride as diva’s ulcers haven’t gone completely yet.

monday - day off as i was working
tuesday - hack, going to try and do as many “bursts” of trot as we can to build fitness
wednesday - probably another hack as it’s supposed to be sunny again
thursday - diva is going to the water treadmill, so lily will probably be schooled - possibly some polework
friday - no idea yet!
saturday - lunge after work
sunday - day off

I've given up this week 🙈

Should have had a lesson yesterday but slight miscommunication between me and my trainer means I didn't think he'd booked me in and he thought I just didn't turn up  so trying to reschedule. K ended up having the day off as I had a tonne of work to finish instead and ended up working until 9pm in the end.

I'm aiming to ride tonight but really depends what time I get back from work and the retired ones are taking me ages to get done in the vile weather and mud. K is on full livery so he always misses out when I run out of time bless him as I know he is 'ok'.
Tomorrow - water treadmill
Thursday - Lunge in equicore bands
Friday - hopefully rescheduled lesson or I will try to hack

Weekend is a write off as it is OH's birthday and we are visiting family, so part of me has sort of written off this week for getting anything productive done.

I definitely have the winter grumps again!

I also had a nice schooling session! I am kicking my own ass about collapsing through my core which leg yield shows up MASSIVELY so educational for both of us. Lovely. And not spooky even in the scary corner!

The Yard Teens all have exams this week and the place is so quiet and peaceful 😍 must take advantage while I can!

i don’t mean to show off, but yesterday we hacked out under a blue sky, and i only had a hoodie on! she’s not been ridden in a week so we did have to do a few laps of trot on the field to get rid of the twinkle toes, but managed to do some canter work afterwards. think im scheduling in another clip this week as she was so sweaty! not sure wether to take it all off, or leave a little bit on🤔

Well today my weather app promised light drizzle so off I headed to my friend's to jump. The instructor cancelled on us as she was poorly (or just looked at a better weather forecast!) and we got drenched!

On the plus side Very Cross Cob trot was super. Loads of elevation, back really engaged, light contact = fabulous. Then exploded into Furious Cob bucks in canter! Jumping with rain up his bottom was ok but we nearly crashed into the one with rain in his face.

He lives out FFS!!

I have watched Sadie ignore all forms of shelter to stand in torrential rain on purpose, but if you ask her to work in a drizzle you only get sideways and backwards. Or extremely forwards if you happen to be on the way home.

Logic is pointless 😂

We were in the school again last night. Did similar things to Tuesday, but better, which is nice. Was going to give her tonight off but forecast says downpour tomorrow so going to aim for a very rare 3 days of schooling in a row. I don't want to push how good she is being so will make it an easy one. I still may also get Very Cross Cob!

The plan was a nice hack baby sitting the youngster what actually happened is we played chicken with a car. D was an angel despite evasive manoeuvres.

I blooming hate motorists. I appreciate we all likely drive but every time I get behind the wheel, ride on the road or get on my bike some motorist acts like an eejit. I swear it's worse than ever before.

Oh poor ponies 😭 i think especially at this time of year people lose all their damn brains. On Sunday I watched a car weave in between two horses when one moved towards the middle of the road to try and communicate it wasn't safe to pass 🙃 They were two local pros so it didn't bother them tbh but I was APPALLED. I'm very lucky to have a pony where I am always able to have a hand free to signal drivers, but I think they were on their giant baby future-eventers and did not have that luxury 😬

We actually had a lesson this evening! I thought we were skipping a week but instructor called and I said yes please. Very glad we did as it was super! Sadie quite tired but inst said she is moving really nicely, looks very comfortable. She was talking me through what we might work on, progressing the half halt from a balance to actually asking Sadie to lighten the front end a bit (very hard for a horse of her shape!) and as she's kind of talking me through setting myself up to be in a better balance for it, but not actually asking anything, I dont think I even had any contact in the reins, Sadie just does it herself like she's listening. And then we did the best walk shoulder in we've ever done, it was so easy. She is so cool and so smart 😭

I was also told not to say "oh good girl" when she coughs, (only after her first trot and better every day) as she might start doing it on purpose 😂 too smart!

Good ponies get to browse the haylage bale while I make up feed, when the yard is empty 😈

long reined lily over some raised poles when i got back from taking diva to the water treadmill, as it was hammering it down and i just didn’t have it in me to ride in it today🤣 well it stopped as soon as we got in the arena, obviously🙄 supposed to be dry tomorrow morning so hopefully can get a hack in!

Just found this thread, what a great way to stay accountable during a cold and miserable week. Hope its ok if I post mine late.

Lunge or ground work every day for the youngster, saddle fitting for them on Friday, first lesson on Saturday with new instructor. Hoping the rain holds off so he's not teaching in a bog. Another lesson on Saturday with the older pony, for me rather than her. Assuming I will not be able to walk on Sunday. Hopefully picking up new trailer at the weekend, and getting it to a service next week before collecting new pony.

Oh I was signalling madly in the middle of the road, he couldn't get past me so just drive at me mouthing eff off. He's local as well. 😑

Good god 😱 Where can he possibly have to be that is so important he can't do basic human decency??? Moron!

I reported someone to the police for similar a few years ago. A friend got a picture of the number plate and I heavily emphasised the fact we had a minor with us and he got a caution 😈

Quite! I mean I ride pony I could be a minor 😅 he's known, there will be words. It's not like were on a busy road it's a single track road to one village where there are tractors, horses and dog walkers around every bend.

Apologise I'm ranting in the nice thread.
