How is it February already??

Congrats all, we’ve made it through January 🎉

I am not writing my plans down in my app, yet, just in case it all goes to pot BUT the weather is looking a tad kinder this week, so I am thinking…

Tuesday: ground work with 1 or both lads - want to groom the arena as well so will see how timings go, unless OH does it today!
Wednesday: ride Ace
Thursday: ride Charmer

We’ve been doing stacks of DIY in the stables - I am sick of sanding rust off roof trusses 🤣 but we are making good progress. We also dismantled some old wooden tack lockers that consumed a lot of space at one end of the shed, so that gives us more room for hay etc.

Now I would like to actually ride the flippin horses 🤣
 
Not many riding opportunities this week due to the weather forecast, long days at school, evening meetings and socialising, however planning long local hacks on Wednesday afternoon, Saturday and boxing out somewhere on Sunday.

I had 1 lesson in Jan with all others being rained off. Before that was 18th December. No wonder I'm feeling a bit aimless!

me and lily hacked out this morning, didn’t realise how windy it was, and we saw numerous delivery/moving vans, so i was very impressed with her for keeping her cool!

going to hack once and school once tomorrow & wednesday, we’ve got a dressage test on saturday & will squeeze in a lunge after work 1 day - it’s no fun trying to ride in the school at 8pm, as she’s a spooky idiot with the lights on🤣
 
V little to report here 🤣 I did manage to get the arena groomed though, so I’m taking that as a win! The horses are in mega daft form atm, and OH is away with work for a couple of days, so I may park my riding ambitions until he’s back 😅 arena looks nice, at least 🤣

I'm standing with a neckrope to lead her, as is usual, and she is bouncing at me like shes on springs. Went and got the bridle. Had to trick her and pretend I wanted her to run away from me (well timed "aaaand canter!"), so I could say good girl and she stopped to wait for her reward. Idiot.

I did ride tho and I suppose should be extra grateful she waited till I was on the ground to lose her marbles.
 
I had a lovely ride with my friend yesterday - we have postponed it twice since Xmas due to the weather so it was amazing to get the one day this week (this year...) that was blue sky with a hint of sun. There is a mile long bridleway to nowhere that is usually rock solid in summer so we knew it would be OK ground and it was nice to have a good canter. Obviously you have to turn around at the end which meant the hooligan bounced back cheerfully. A steep climb back to the lorry put him back in his place. 9.5km so a decent workout.

I've barely sat on the microcob this year and she needs the work for her waistline but everywhere is so boggy and her joints just don't like it. I'm just doing to have to pretend I can't see that she looks like a barrel.
