Weekday Plans - w/c 3rd Nov

@Boulty Your boy is gorgeous šŸ˜ Just my type! My boy is 20 and hasn't stopped shannigans like that 🤣 You can't leave *anything* within reaching distance of him if you vaguely value it. You also have to lock shut gates, doors etc as can undo bolts, untie leadropes, take off fly masks & grazing muzzles (off both himself and other's I fear) and really anything in his way. He's super geniune, he just has enough self confidence to fuel several nation's armies, is smart enough to back up his confidence with actual workable ideas, has a strong sense of justice and an evening stronger 'no'. But honestly, once we were out the Kevin's he's such a dude as long as he feels suitably appeased - I hope your boy brings you as much laughter and happiness as mine has ā¤ļø

Just a short 7km ride out for us this morning. It was certainly brisk 🤣

The cobgoblin is definitely seeing what he can get away with now he’s all settled in (other horses that are currently pushing him around you have been warned as I think you’ll be next)

I dared to have a quick chat with a transporter that was taking another horse to a vet appointment as I used to hire her box before I got my own.

This is what my pony decided to do to entertain himself whilst my back was turned (I was literally about 10 metres away)

He made direct eye contact with me and instead of doing the ā€œit wasn’t meā€ act of innocence (which the Highland was an expert at!) proceeded to continue to paw at the things he had tipped everywhere. Apparently he woke up & chose violence!

He then went out on his first solo exploration mission (after pausing several times on the driveway… tbf I think the sudden disappearance of his friend in the horsebox confused him).

Was a good boy on the very brief bit of road followed by an absolute piglet when we got to the grass. Apparently he thought that the outing has now turned into a picnic.

As he’s been relatively polite up until now / has listened when told no when diving for grass it took a moment for it to dawn that the tug of war was achieving nothing useful and that unless I wanted to spend a lot of time being dragged about then the volume needed upping to match the the extent to which he was going ā€œgrass if waaaaaay more interesting than you are and why on earth would I want to leave it?ā€ (Nothing awful just a few firm corrections on the rope rather than the lighter requests that up to now have been respected)

Order was restored and sensible walking without trying to drag me was resumed.

Did let him stop for a nibble before turning for home as politeness had returned by that point (& with what I’d like to eventually do with him some snacking will be acceptable but only when I say it’s ok)

He's absolutely gorgeous and would get away with everything if I owned him!

One of mine is exactly like that! He’s a big gigantic clown. Throws things about, generally acts the maggot but he is such a superstar and I love the bones of him.

Excuse the dodgy photo angle (0.5 x zoom) but today I decided I probably ought to reintroduce him to the horsebox now it’s no longer acting as a Halloween obstacle storage area (& before it becomes an Xmas obstacle storage area!).

He’s not been back on it since he came home and as he tried to kick the crap out of it and used the ramp as a launchpad thought we’d best start getting some calmer vibes going.

Enter the bucket of hay! The pony thinks this is amazing and liked it better than the carrot slices I’d also brought for him. My lorry floor thought it was less amazing (& I did cry a little inside at how much is now mixed in with the lovely clean bedding)

We can now enter and exit using the ramp in a normal manner without trying to jump it and by his 4th visit he was getting slightly reluctant to leave his new favourite thing.

Shall do this a few more times (whilst crying a little at the mess he’s making!) and then think about shutting the partition on him for a bit (eventually bucket shall be swapped for haynet but wanted something higher value / that would hold his attention to start).

As for the the cuteness allowing him to get away with stuff he’s definitely got a face that could talk its way out of a thousand crimes!

He did in fact untie himself a few weeks ago so he could eat grass, again when I popped inside the barn that the tie rings are literally on the side of.
