Milliepops, you sleeping? :D

So, what are people's plans this weekend?

It's too hot for me to really think about moving out of the house! But, sj trainer friend is away, so am meeting a friend at his yard, so we can abuse his lovely arena early on Saturday morning (with his permission, I must add!)
Otherwise will still be out walking on NF daily, now at 40 mins.
No plans yet for Sunday tho.

Well our weekend starts later tonight, we are off for a bit of XC Schooling at Tweseldown- while their BE courses are still accessible and flagged -must be mad in this weather ????
I am reliably informed the ground is still holding up very well and hoping for a bit of cloud cover for this evening.
Friday - a day off work and lovely day out planned at the Game Fair in Warwickshire. although forecasters say we may get a bit wet :-).
No firm weekend plans yet, but hope to do a local arena hire to get some SJ practice in, plus some hacking to chill out.
have fun out there and stay cool everyone !

:D :D :D

was riding ;)

Just back from a lesson today, met up with vickijay so had cuddles with her ponies and watched her lesson too :) Kira had last week on holiday and has come back feeling full of beans, it was a consolidation day today ahead of regionals next week but we definitely pushed the boundaries in terms of collection, engagement and reactivity which was great. Very hot pony afterwards but she's entirely unperturbed by the increased demands, I just have to keep my end of the bargain and maintain the grass supply :p

Salty has arena hire tomorrow morning, our arena at the yard is finally feeling the effects of all the dry weather and I can't really train either of them in it now.
Hacking over the weekend I expect, and then on Tuesday I've signed Kira up for a dressage to music clinic with Stef Eardley and Equidance, after which we should hopefully have a PSG floorplan and music :) I'm not experienced enough at the level to be imaginative so this will really help, and then we can go and play with some musics over the winter.

Have fun all, keep the fluids and electrolytes up! :D

im debating going to lyneham heath xc schooling tomorrow afternoon, but worried about the ground and heat!?
then off to Rectory in Cirencester to do some SJ on sunday :)

Phew TFF, we were about to have one WP thread running into another there, hopefully you have brought order to the chaos. Fingers cross for the NF rehab.

Monte and ILM - don't envy you in the heat! It's a scorcher. I'm hiding in the air con.

MP - looking cute as a button as always.

Away this weekend so no riding for me. Having done a bit more sj lately, I've obviously decided that I'm going to enter a dressage comp instead now. Haha. I never seem to do things the easy way. But I'm after arena stuff and couldn't find a small enough jump comp so plumped for stressage instead as can plan travel etc based on fixed times, so hopefully we won't swelter too much. Plus I would quite like to aim for a little champ show and this one you qualify if you get 55%+ - barring any hideous moments, we should be ok for that.

Fence judging at Cholmondeley on Sunday and the forecast says it might rain. I haven't seen my waterproofs for months - best start looking for them!

<3 She's so damn cute!
We're forecast torrential rain here (finally! thank god!) so I'm staying at home, mostly doing prep work for my 3 weeks working in St Andrews in August :). If it eases off at some point I might go and wave at M and go for a mooch down the lane if I can be bothered to drive all the way into Swansea. I've got 2 new bridles and some bits to try out so probably should do that...

Good luck and have fun all! Hopefully the rest of the UK gets some good rain too so that the ground softens up and everyone can start doing a bit more :).

We have our elementary area festival on Sunday. not looking forwards to having to leave at 5am to get there in time for the arena walk.

Ran out of time in our lesson yesterday so my trainer is coming again tomorrow to work on our test.

Currently trying to persuade puppy that sleep is a good thing so I can go and clear the arena and harrow for tomorrow but she’s still resisting :(

MP - She is adorable!

ILM & Monte - I'm a little jealous. I am missing jumping atm, but need to find a saddle first before leaving the ground!

No real plans here, I think rain on Sunday, but just hacking and a bit of stretch work I think. It's been 2 weeks of her having a cough, and then me being too busy, so just need to crack on again with planning on going out in September.

I'm coaching PC all day tomorrow, which will be horrific, whether it's like today, or in hot thunderstorms as is forecast. Plus have both ponies up there demo-ing. Should be a quiet weekend followed by a week of polocrosse camp, but between the ground and the weather and other stuff, I've decided to hell with it. I'm planning on a few trips out to arena hire for some decent jumping instead, if it's not 35 degrees again.

If it does stay this hot, I will have no choice but to blow my own brains out. This is truly awful.

<3 She's so damn cute!

I know I'm biased, but she literally is the cutest horse I've ever met. Between the eye wrinkles and the nose wrinkles, and the wrapping her neck around you for a cuddle... she's really gentle at mutual grooming (but I do get stubble rash anywhere she makes contact) I could never part with her! The funny little weirdo :o

Well mine will revolve around simply getting and lugging lots of buckets of water around as our private well water supply has finally dried up due to this insane dry weather! Never happened before :( So Ive got a trailer with big water tank on it parked in my horses field (not sure where to refill it yet...!) and our council are being very helpful and helping those of us with no water so they're dropping off drinking water tomorrow and Im hoping they'll lend us a big tank for the house so I can have water to bucket into toilets to flush and try to attempt some sort of washing the dishes and bathing! I have never wished for loads of rain more than right now. What a bloody hassle.

Im worrying about washing my grey (WHITE) horse for a show next week, she needs a proper hosing job so will have to box her to a friends house who has mains water to do it at this rate...

I’m feeling a bit guilty as I want the rain to hold off till next week!
I have my first ever area festival on Sunday (just at prelim), and don’t want to get wet. Forecast is 70% that I will...

Good luck everyone, and if the rain comes can it miss East Lothian please?

Extra luck to blood magic - you’re at the same venue as me. Well impressed at your dedication of making the arena walk. On horse at 7.15am is just too early.

I am happy to share some of the rain we have here with all those who need it. Usually we are desperate for rain but now we have so much the paddocks are turning to swamps and the forecast for the week is more rain...

Baby Henry is going to a competition for off the track horses. I made a deal with him... he behaves and I'll give him more carrots than his brother gets! He is feeling rather too well with the cool weather, extra feed and not enough work. Plus he is growing again! He got me off the other day for the first time. I think we were both a bit surprised. He will have some time off after tomorrow to let him grow and hopefully settle a bit.

Coolie and I had a lesson last night. He's been having a bit of mid season downtime, plus a vet check to make sure the old man is comfortable... He passed with flying colours so time to crack on and up the training to step up a grade, if I can find the guts! Our lesson last night was great, he is really starting to use himself, and I got a tune up too.

He will probably just get some fitness work this weekend, it's too wet to ride in the paddock at home. We are in the 3 weeks of the year I wish I had an arena. Lucky though really, the rest of the time it's not an issue.

Despite the fact that I shouldn't really be riding at all i will be going showjumping on sunday.
Need to remember how to do that as it's a long time since I left the ground.

The horse I’m taking to Rockrose on Sunday came in from the field lame this morning so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my farrier can get him sorted. Otherwise we’ll have to withdraw. :(

Non-horsey but water related! We're off to the rowing Junior Europeans to watch my son row for Ireland :) - the only problem being that the water levels are so low, half the slips and two lanes on the course are out of action.

Although the forecast is for a weekend of rain so maybe it will fill up again :D

I was at Hickstead yesterday, really unlucky fence down but she jumped super- thrilled with her. Day off today then back again tomorrow, so glad its forecast to be cooler, melted yesterday!
Possibly then grooming for my old boss on Sunday in the WHP

I was supposed to be eventing on Saturday but a small brain injury courtesy of a silly fall onto concrete-hard ground scuppered that plan so we're off to a jump lesson on Sunday instead. But more excitingly, it is due to rain, properly, for longer than 5 minutes this weekend!

You shouldn’t be jumping at all .... BAD girl
But if you are going to make sure you don’t fall off!

It's in a nice soft arena, though I have to admit the 40mph wind gusts forecast are making me doubt my sanity a little!

Our competition is done and dusted. Baby Henry was a very grown up boy indeed!

Henry really stepped up in a busy place and put in a very nice, relaxed test. I was not as relaxed as he was!

The in hand part was a new experience for both of us, but I think we showed ourselves off ok even if Henry did canter instead of trot!

Our first competitive show jumping round was clear but very slow, just keeping a steady trot for a positive experience. He left all the rails up and kept the exuberance to a minimum to come 4th in his class! I am very, very proud of him, he didn't put a hoof out of line all day and was very happy to go do the thing. Very grown up for a 4yo!

I’m meant to be doing a BE event tomorrow but the severe weather warning and 2 hour plus drive to get there are putting me off. Will probably prepare and see what the morning brings but I think I’m secretly hoping they abandon...

Well, I abandoned my visit to sj trainer this morning, not due to rain, but because 1 had become 2 by early yesterday morning..... absolutely no waxing up, no tell tales at all! Was still out with the gang, looking a bit shell shocked even 36hrs later, but both doing well.
Looks like quiet August for me

Aria did the BE90 at Cholmondley today. We walked the course Friday night, as I wanted to check the ground, if it had been hard we would have withdrawn. The ground was great, but the jumps... had a right fright at the size of the hedge. But decided to give it a go. She was fab, an Ok dressage ( considering the high winds ) and then double clear to come 6th. I had to buy the photos of the hedge !

Well done Accidental Eventer with your baby, she looks fab

Themule, hope you are ok , maybe you should be taking it easy ?

I've got cobsarefab staying for a few days with the intention of getting her little mare driving. I'm praying the storms stop tomorrow as we have an instructor booked to come and work with us.

Bloody hell thar doesn’t look like a BE90 hedge!!!! Well done you!!!
