C'mon then, what's everyone up to? Is there anyone going eventing who I can vicariously live through ?

Quiet weekend for us as we were meant to be going XC schooling but M has a really deep stone bruise that's still causing trouble and I don't want to risk her on hard ground. Farrier coming out Monday to discuss gel pads or a gel infill.

She was absolutely fab at the grid work session last night though! She can generally be a bit tricky to load so has been travelling without the partition for a few months. We put the partition back in for yesterday and left her travelling boots off (o/r and XC boots all round instead) and she walked straight on, stood quietly while everything was shut, and travelled without a peep - a bit of a change from last week where she was booting the side of the box until we pulled off .
Off the box at the other end happily, tacked up while she was munching hay and marched into the school like she'd been doing it her whole life. No thoughts of exploding or running off and pretty much no tension at all. Warmed up really sweetly, on the aids and listening to my seat, and gave me a cracking med trot. Jumped everything she was pointed at first time with no rushing or hesitation, though we were getting 4 strides between jumps when everyone else was getting 5-7 . It was a nice XC canter..... I suspect it's because the jumps were so small, the bigger they get the more she collects herself! Loaded perfectly to come home too.

It's taken us nearly 3 years to crack the loading, travelling, and exploding at the other end thing and I'm just chuffed .

I rode G for the first time in 3 weeks this morning. The neck strap was most useful and saved me from meeting the ground at least twice. We had some squealing and grunting as well, but on the whole he was pretty good considering he's had over 3 weeks in the stable. Hoping to find someone to ride out with me tomorrow and Sunday too; and really hoping I'll be able to get him back out in the field by Sunday.

Our two rising 6 yr olds are going to their first XC . An unaffiliated hunter trial round the 80 and 90 BE courses at Cumwhinton, Cumbria.
Take note I am the groom, part owner, my daughter and son in law ride them. Hope it's the start of a season of BE.

If I can pick horsebox up later if she's come out of surgery, off to combined training tomorrow and hacking Sunday in prep for first BE next weekend (unless it gets cancelled like everything else so far....) Usually an optimist but becoming a realist/fatalist this spring!

I'm glad he's better after kneeling on that flint and mostly behaved for you . Fingers crossed you can start turning out again too - I think I'd cry if mine had to go on box rest now after the winter we've had.

Hope the surgery went/goes well. I'm still sulking about Howick being cancelled and I wasn't even competing!

I was trying the size 5 and thinking woohoo this is it. I don't know if the slight newness of the saddle made her worry about it being the saddle of pain and doom again or what but she just hesitated at a jump (she had cleared it fine just before this!) and I did some sort of strange ping out the saddle then out the side door. Landed really really heavily on my shoulder and hip and smashed my ribs up. Initially I thought it was my spine so I am feeling very lucky and relieved. Very sore tho. I'm definitely investing in an airjacket when I am fit to ride.

Was ambulanced to A&E on a spinal board which was pretty scary and the lovely people at the venue and the solutions fitter got Daisy untacked and back in her trailer. Neighbour got my daughter until my parents arrived and my oh went and rescued Daisy.

Poor Daisy just stood looking at me wailing on the ground (I couldn't shut up it was so painful!).
A&E were brilliant and did a lot of X-rays and were very good about the fact I am needle phobic.

Started lambing yesterday so god knows how I will manage as walking is a challenge at the moment.

Please populate this thread with loads of pics and vids so I can also live through you lot!

Planning to meet a good friend to hack round a 6 mile xc course (was a uk chaser course yrs ago) tomorrow morning, need to be up and out early tho.
Sunday am doing the usual and hacking out with yo-next-but-one and taking the v long summer route.

FW, ribs are ruddy painful, no laughing or coughing! Hope things ease soon x

Probably dosing up on over the counter pain relief thanks to my first (fab!) ride in almost two years today thanks to injured pone and then my daughter (in France) claiming back said pone when she was ruled fit to go back into work. I had thought I'd hung up my boots at this point, but my wonderful ex YO lured me out today and I'm now looking forwards to riding out again with her on Monday - aches permitting.

Nothing doing here as obviously I am now without trailer. However, I am, at least, with horses still. I'm busy with family stuff tomorrow and work on Sunday anyway, but I have managed to wangle a lift rather than pulling out of a polework party on Monday. So that's something.

Hurrah for JB getting back on G, DF's loading and gridwork joys and TFF's hacking fun.

I'm off to a xc lesson on Sunday with my PRE. It will be his second time xc, last time was at Boomerang in September when he was a star - confidently jumping in and out of water, up and down steps and over ditches in spite of his hopeless rider (me! I hadn't done xc in many years) - so I'm hoping I can keep myself confident enough to help him keep that trend! I may take some Dutch courage with me ;-)

I'm doing loading practise with my youngster as I have finally found the perfect companion to stay in the field with my older one so he doesn't fret and be a major inconvenience! Feel like I'm really getting somewhere with the youngster so want to be able to get out to arenas/woods/fun stuff. Good luck to all those competing!

Ouch FW - ribs are worse than anything ime - you must be proper hardcore if you can lamb with broken ribs.

Horsebox still in surgery - working on it until 10pm tonight and starting at 7am tomorrow so may still get to the ball.

Not competing but going to visit my 2yo filly at the training centre she's at on Sunday morning. Got a point to point tomorrow and didn't make the cut for Sunday so find myself with a rare 'day off'. Once I see her working out (she's currently down to 2.35 for a mile and going very nicely according to the trainer) then I'm off to visit Missile, the gelding I raced and then sold into a riding home (twice). Last update from his new owners showed him jumping so I'm hoping to see his owner pop him over a couple of fences while I'm there so that I can start writing an article about his 'new career' for the STAGBI newsletter!

FW how awful, hope you're not in too much pain and have plenty of drugs to get you through lambing!

I ended up taking G out on my own this morning and fell off, he had a broncing fit because he wanted to go for a gallop and I wouldn't let him. As soon as I fell off he put his head down and started eating the grass I'm not hurt but did give my head a good whack so now have a headache.

Crosshill - enjoy . My old YO is very involved with the trotting races down here (West Wales - Tairgwaith is about 20 minutes up the road from me) and I always love your posts.
That's really rubbish Star, I can't believe the amount of events that have been abandoned this season. I have nothing to say one way or the other about withdrawing from Badders but know you'll make the right choice for you and Monty.

Yes DF, had a good time, its an arable farm that used to be a uk Chasers course. Have to cough up 25 to ride there, but no dogs, cyclists etc, only other occasional horses and we all have to go in the same direction. "Choice of 6 miles or an additional 3.5 miles to add in about 2 thirds of the way round.
FLF was knackered when we finished as despite her not jumping anything (as planned) we cheerfully hurtled up quite a few long grassy hills, tho she did eventually give a grudging lead to my friends mare through the water complex. It's a big shame FLF doesn't willingly jump as there are so many flights of jumps and a great water complex.

Thanks for the words of encouragement they clearly did the job .

First up E53, we have done this test so many times I have finally stopped going wrong in it Our first tests are never our best but she was a good girl for a nice 67.79% and second in my section 3rd overall .

Then M61 ... Warm up was manic so we got a little unsettled which isn't like us with our SJ warm up experiences but put it behind us. Did some quiet transitions around the arena which seemed to settle her well. Trot work was very nice, sitting trot wasn't too terrible 😁, extended walk scored an 8 however canter was erm interesting! First transition it was like I'd stuck her with a cattle prod , first half pass was nice until we got to the center line and topaz said "FLYING CHANGE" I said no just canter, Topaz had a strop and I lost both my stirrups however ended up on the correct leg so continued like that was some new swish move we've been working on .

Ended up with a fandanbbydoozy 65.69% first in my section and third overall again clever black beast, but she clearly won't be happy until tests contain flying changes .

None of my own horses today (or this weekend for that matter!) but a busy day fence judging at Tweseldown. Did spot a couple of HHO faces but i'll let them own up to going first, i saw one of them do very well though so hopefully won't be long! Had a good spot from fence 1 & 2 so managed to see the first 5 fences, the last two and the warm up, so plenty going on.

Tomorrow i have a 1/2 marathon round my home town, i trained so hard for it, but peaked too early, then the horses took over and i've barely run lately, just putting in 5-10k here and there, i am dreading it and just want to get over it.

Depending on whether i can still walk (or ride) i might take Ruby up the gallops for some 'breaking practice' having been run away with a few times lately, i need to install some emergency breaks!

Star, that's rotten luck. But half the class must be in the same boat, surely? I hope you don't feel the need to withdraw (although I could understand it obviously).

I'm envious of TFF's hacking, of AH's dressage outing and seriously impressed by LP's marathonic efforts. And no, that isn't a word. But it is now, ok?

JFTD yes my hat was fairly new, I've invested a small fortune in hats since getting this horse, I've fallen off him more times than I've fallen off in the rest of my life. Definitely getting a new one, I've had a constant headache since, and have whiplash in my neck. Was your trailer insured? People are such scumbags
LP hope the run goes well, and that you find some brakes for Ruby!
AH well done that girl! Love that Topaz wants to do flying changes all the time now she's discovered how to do them
TFF that sounds an awesome place to go, where is it, is it doable for me do you think? Once G is back to fitness we could meet up there.

So pleased you found the ponies Jfd. Bad luck with the ribs FW. Hard luck not getting a run star but don't withdraw, he knows his job and your sj practice has been great.
I'm off to a showcross, meant to be a practice for be but when I walked it, it's very small. Wishing I'd entered the higher class but then the sj would of been pushing it.
After the event I'm dropping H off at loading boot camp as a final attempt to get the van issue resolved. Fingers crossed they can resolve the issue.

Sorry to hear the hhoers out of action for various reasons, all sounds painful in their different ways. JennB did you get yourself checked out?

My back held up well enough to do the yard dressage clinic today. Not the greatest pics (stills from the video) but boyo was v good considering we haven't done any schooling for weeks. And I didn't go the wrong way for a change, but only because I had a caller.

My position is truly awful though, really need to do something about that. Watching the vid(which I hate doing but is v good for learning), I practically ride on my tip tip toes with my left leg too far back, which looks stupidly uncomfortable but somehow is my default ��

We've been dressaging today - first outing since our disastrous Winter Regional and back at a venue where he was a completely silly last time. Needless to say we didn't break any records, our scores ranged from 1 (!) to 7.5 (yay!), but he did behave impeccably in the warm up and we managed to complete both tests without withdrawing so there were some good points! We have had a really busy week, complete with an awesome jumping lesson, but I think he was feeling a bit tired as he felt a little flat. Onwards and upwards to our next BD competition which is in a couple of weeks, followed by the Sheepgate Championships. Just need some match practice! For those wanting pictures:
