Weekend Plans

Awww my little sports cob was so fab today XC schooling - very green & still unfit (only 1 XC schooling session and 1 fun ride under his belt so far!) but so genuine 😊😊

Very well done to all those celebrating success this weekend, whether through competing or good training sessions 😊😊

Horse was naughty tonight. Got wound up by jumps in the arena before we rode and then even more so when horses in the fields started galloping around. Then all hell broke loose because two people left the yard for a hack (not their fault my horse is a brat).

He started napping then spinning. I yelled at him and he stopped. Then the rearing and pathetic bucks started. I managed to stay calm and grabbed the martingale strap to keep me steady. Two people came over to help calm him down and I eventually got him to stand still and calm properly.

He went fine after that. Few bucks in left rein canter and going too fast on right rein but otherwise good. Just too hyper and wound up today.

Pleased with myself for staying calm. I did resort to leaning forward too much and having my reins too short but I have at least potentially conquered my fear. Controlling human instinct can come next.

I fell off!! :) in the warm up before we'd even started, but got back on and carried on....

He'd lost his confidence so refused the first fence as it was an oxer like the practise jump i'd fell at. so talked him round, made a fuss, had one pole down and a lot of time faults, but we finished.

Then said to my mum if he stopped in the 2nd round I'd retire, it was our biggest course to date, 3ft, and well I needn't worry he flew, clear and inside the time!! the ladies on the gate said we were one of very few that had done it :) So despite the fall a lot of positives came out of it!!

Hope everyone had fun this weekend. And hope you're ok mrsh!

Thrilled with the grey beast. Did our first working hunter at wakes end farm. It was the novice (75cms) but the standard was pretty high from my limited experience. Only the second time he's jumped a course at a comp., and was so chuffed with him.

He was so much calmer this time (our third show), warmed up well, although I got my timings totally wrong and the show was about 2 hours later than I thought. We both went a bit green in the jumping but he jumped clear in a nice steady round and did a nice enough individual show.

I still need to work on the gallop and he needs to be more forward in his jumping, so not that surprising that the judge didn't rate us (6th out of 7) but I was so chuffed with my little dude. Pics to show it did happen

Well, took mine to do his first ever BD, just a Prelim MyQuest class and he only went and won it (let's not mention it was a tiny class... ) with 70%! Over the moon!

Wowzers, that's impressive. Well done. Every result counts even if it's a small class!

Mrsh - nope, not me
