Thursday rolling around again...what's everyone got planned?

I have a pretty quiet weekend after last week's mania :D Leaving summerhouse well alone for a few weeks!

Salty has her first indoor arena hire tomorrow... going with a friend so she will have to work with another horse in there as well. Eep! She's still a bit silly if she kicks up the arena surface against the sides so I'll be packing the sticky jods :p There's a method to it though as I'm eyeing up an indoor venue for her first show - they run one arena at a time so the warm up will be quieter. Just need to make sure she isn't claustrophobic first ;)

Prob take K out to a long arena on Saturday, I want to try and practice the tips we got from test riding clinic on Monday .

Lesson on Tuesday.

Have fun all, hope the cold weather cuts everyone some slack :)

Hope it goes well, MP! Hope there aren't any surface-kicking related incidents!!

We're off games for a little while, B has had a rather large granuloma lump appear (wasn't there Sunday but was there by Tuesday!). He gets them every winter and usually cause no aggro, vet advice is to leave alone as they always disappear in spring/summer. This one is much larger than he's ever had and seems a bit sore.

Saddler is booked for Saturday just in case we have any pressure points I can't feel. Vet is out next week to have a poke and a prod, it may need a steroid injection.

Will just keep him ticking over with some lunging and maybe a bareback sit if he's feeling chill/I'm feeling brave :D

Sounds like you've got a busy weekend ahead millipops!

My plans are:

Saturday morning hacking for Maldwyn, then taking Sky and his loaner for a lesson in a big indoor as he keeps getting a bit nervy when at new places so it's good for them to practice. Bathing and plaiting Sat afternoon ready to take the ponies out with the Yorkshire Farmers on Sunday. Sadly working at nightclub Sat night so no partying for me :(

Sunday Up early and taking both ponies out with the Yorkshire Farmers so that'll be great fun for them and a break from the usual. Passed my trailer test last week and already been out twice with them so certainly making the most of it!!!!

Whatever everyone gets up to - have a fantastic weekend!

Sorry MP, you'll probably think I am a massive stalker if you look on your profile page - I kept trying to click on this thread and kept missing and hitting your name instead :o

Good luck with the sticky jods on Salty :D

Rubbish to be off games with B Embo - hope it sorts itself soon. If you do get on bareback we will of course expect evidence :p

Dabs is back on a hacking fitness build up so will just be doing that with him. Arty will go out in the box for a walk about somewhere new. Pebbles I want to have a bit of a play with. I have a nasty suspicion that someone may have tried to sit on her before I bought her... She is really soppy and loves cuddles these days, and is perfect to do everything with, except if you stand next to her and drape an arm over her back, which induces complete panic and frantic attempts to get away. It's quite profound and very strange to witness, so I want to try some desensitisation with some bits of cloth to see if she can be brought round to the idea.

We're doing an introduction to in hand training dressage clinic on Saturday and off for a lesson with our western trainer on Sunday, weather permitting.

Good Luck to everyone out competing, lets hope we all manage to stay warm as the forecast is pretty chilly ! :-)

Thursday, quick gentle hack for us as he worked really hard XC schooling last Sunday -we ran through our upcoming dressage tests on Tuesday and he was still a little tired.

Friday evening , madly tack cleaning and trying to spot clean and plait a grey horse in cold weather without freezing him to death ;-)
Saturday off to Cherwell in Oxford to do two dressage tests for my Riding Club. very early start for us as 1.5 hours drive and first test 9.20 !
Not expecting to trouble anyone for placings but want to use it as a schooling exercise for everything we have been working on at home and for me to try to remember to ride every movement and prepare for each one as well !

Good luck everyone and stay warm!

Saturday we have a grid clinic, and then are going straight from there to the luxury of our new yard (with an indoor!!!!)

Sunday I will explore our new hacking :)

Congrats on passing your trailer test!

Had booked for our first xc of the year but F got himself stuck in his stable overnight and has bashed his face and cut his lip! So no riding for me but hand walking and carrot feeding instead. He is happy about that I suspect. Have fun everyone!

Ouch, poor boy, sorry to hear that, hope he recovers fast x

Thought I’d join in again this week! Our plans are very weather dependent, and unfortunately forecast to be icy :(

After a flat lesson today I think Saturday we will pop and do some showjumping (unaffiliated) at a local venue to get us in tune and to take the edge off him. I also need to course walk at some point as on...

Sunday we have our first grass ODE of the season. However I am sceptical we will be making it. Our dressage is at 8am and it’s forecast to be -3 degrees the night before. If it’s icy I will not tow as not risking all my life savings for one competition. Unfortunately we will loose our rather pricey entry fee though!! I do hope it goes ahead as he jumped fab last weekend and seemed to have a breakthrough today. If we do go I may even do my first ‘report’ :D

Nothing currently booked in, I decided hibernating was more appealing than another snow/hail filled outing! Might see if I can find a long arena hire to practice some sequence changes or just make Topaz ace them going large round our not quite 20x40 school ;)...

Good luck all, you are apparently made of sterner stuff than me .

Good luck all you busy people! I'm freaking out because we're planning to do one thing, never mind two or three!

Saturday morning. The plan is to go do an in-hand class at a local show. Eep. I've been washing and trimming and stressing all week so far. I just hope it isn't too icey to transport.

PapaverFolis Good luck at your showing show! Tough time of year for turnout so well done you for putting in the effort. :)

Got a lesson tomorrow which will be great- felt so uplifted after our last one.

Then the rest of the weekend is a horsey write-off as I'm away for a hen do. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Thanks! She's basically hairy and kind of yellow so we are going to look like the rank amateurs that we are! But I've tried so pints for effort please ... I'd have waited til next month's show to be honest but my cousin has decided to get married that day which wasnt very considerate of my horse plans. So decided to just be brave and go for it this month.

We have our first proper show on Sunday- dressaging, kinda looking forward to it. It's a while since I competed and my jackets a wee bit tight lol but wearable

So will school tonight and tomorrow then hack Saturday and show Sunday. Exciting times

Had people booked to use our school today and tomorrow but they’re dropping like flies now that I’ve spent blimmin’ ages setting up :(
Ah well - took advantage of the cancellation free lunch and had a fab session working on our changes with Raz instead.

Plan is to give Beau a jump tomorrow morning to make sure the brakes are still working before SNEC on Saturday, then I have a jumping lesson with my new riding club on Sunday - haven’t decided which horse I’m doing it in just yet so will need to have a think about that soon-ish.

Have fun, everyone :)

Ummmm - not sure really 😄 I had got a clinic on Saturday then XC schooling on Sunday. I cancelled the XC schooling because I thought it was too much for him to do both - and today the clinic was cancelled! Sod’s law innit.

So a lesson tomorrow, hacking and maybe some jumping over the weekend (at home) and a lesson on Wednesday to replace the clinic.

Is it meant to be cold this weekend then? Must have missed that.....

Oh good luck! Hope the weather stays passable and look forward to the 'proper' report :D

I'm very impressed at you showing at this time of year - good luck

Good luck to all those with plans. Hope the weather plays ball.

I’ve got a lazy weekend, with a beach ride followed by rugby Saturday (watching not playing!) and a lesson on Sunday.

Saturday is 'let's get rid of tack day,' after we found we owned 27 bridles between 5 horses, including an unbroken youngster and a retired broodmare. Years of buying and selling and hanging on to sentimental value items have got out of hand. So we're taking a car load of stuff to a table top sale in the morning, and then we've got 30 lots entered at an auction that evening. 11 saddles...why?

Sunday is showjumping at the local riding school on one of their horses. Depending on who I get, could be anything from 70-90. At least it's indoors so no frost problems.

I hope all of those who aren't enjoying summer stay warm on their weekends!

We have the first event of the season! I am so excited, we've done all the prep and Coolie has been going fab so fingers crossed it transfers into competition. Weather looks perfect too considering I was rather worried it would be horribly hot, 29C is perfect!

Well I'm not a fan of you now with all this sunshine talk :p

Good luck with event - would love to read a report :)

I went to course hire last night with the stolen pony. I have been riding him a couple of months and have jumped him about 5 times and he hasn't left the yard for about 3 years. I felt pretty positive after a great lesson last week, but then of course rode like a plonker. He went a bit backwards and I could have done with some spurs, but on the plus side the indoor was really spooky and he was really good about everything going on. More outings needed.
My girl is now meant to be trotting in the school which was fine day 1 & 2 but now she knows what's going on she is mental. So this weekend I will be trying to stay on while she leaps, bucks and broncos. Only 38 days until she can go out in the field!

Went to clear round at bogey venue again last night, my lovely instructor gave up her evening to come along and help me (aka. stand in the arena and yell at me to actually ride :D ) and for the first time in 18mo we got round with no stops! It did take 4 consecutive rounds, and we did have 2 poles (my fault) but I couldn't be happier. Amazing what happens when you actually ride your horse :p Honestly don't know what I'd do without my instructor, she just goes completely above and beyond.

Sunday we have a polework clinic at home, which should be good too. Polework is really useful for both of us at the moment :)
