I haven’t seen a new thread so I’ll start!

I have a flat lesson with Henry tonight, our first in ages and our first lesson since my fall.

Tomorrow Coolie and I are show jumping at Partons cup. We are doing the grand heights of 60 and 70, lower than we normally do because I really need to look after myself and I’m just happy to be able to ride!

Sunday Henry will get a ride and I need to check on the bees!

have fun all 5C882FB4-589E-4E2E-93D6-DDDBE7BB2E38.jpeg

Taking my little madam show jumping on Sunday, attempting our first 95cm in a while after a pretty crappy year of little health issues on her part (abscess for six weeks in her neck after vaccinations and rotten frog issues) and mental health issues on my part. Fingers crossed that all goes well. Was thinking of taking the old lady for a hack, but we'll see. She's been ferrying me bareback from one field to the other all week.

This week has flown by.

Bertie and I have a BRC qualifier on Sunday at bury farm. We’re not ‘polished’ yet but I’ll give it a go. Then, in my usual way, I’ll prob ditch the dressage and have a go at some sj instead!

Had a stressful (and expensive!) week with Finn. His melanoma surgery and treatment went well under GA but he had impaction (constipation) yesterday, which meant an emergency trip back to the RVC. Nothing from them overnight, which is a good sign. He’ll stay there for a few days being monitored. He was due the 2nd part of his treatment next week but I’m going to double check that it’s not all a bit too much for him as he’s a bit sore and has had a tough week of it.

I may also need to find him 24/7 turnout for a few weeks whist he recovers. They can do it at my yard but he’ll be out on his own at night (understandably they’re worried about messing with a 2nd horse’s routine/system) and I don’t know if he’s going to settle. Exploring options but hopefully we can make it work at the yard as that’s his home and I’d like him to be as settled as possible.

AE - good luck, and great hat silk!
Bernster - I hope Finn recovers ok

I'm hacking Indio this morning and then the rest of my horsey activities are dependent on a vet visit at 1pm today for Chilli, to x-ray the leg that was kicked. If all goes well he can go back out with his buddies and back into work, if not then my dogs will be getting some longer walks this weekend!

Healing thoughts to your horses Bernstein and j1ffy - hopefully all straightforward from here.

I’ve not popped in here for a while because I never have any weekend plans ? we are now up to 2 x 30 mins in hand walking daily, and have an appt with our surgeon on Tuesday to assess progress (tendon op was at end of June so this is 2nd check up).

Not much now. We were at PP Champs today. First test was a mixed bag due to errant cheering (annoying but really he should learn to cope with it) and just a couple of (major) bobbles. Second test we won overall, I was really pleased with his test but we were so early to go in the class I didn’t think anything of it. Teaches me for unplaiting too early!

I’ve not been able to get on the forum for 2 days and I’ve missed you all!! So glad to be back.

not much plans this weekend. Hopefully a hack today. Not ridden since last weekend so desperate to get back on. And Tali is bored. They’ve been moved onto more grass so she’s feeling good and wants to play. But it’s felt like proper winter up here now.

need to wash out stables this weekend incase the really bad weather day comes where they have to come in at nights for the winter which will be very weird without Flo ☹️ Her stable is full of chicks after I let a chicken sit on eggs which I was sure hadn’t been cocked but apparently had. OH was not happy. But it’s nice to have something in there.
And need to pick up straw. We’ve had a pretty bad harvest up here so I’m delighted to have found straw for sale, never mind small square bales which are so much easier to work with.

best of luck to those competing and ?? For sick notes. ?

Good luck, that is my area. I am your area rep, waves! I'm not there on Sunday so won't see you but might see you at other qualifiers.

Coooooool ?. I’ve recently joined a RC which is pretty active and it’s nice to be part of a team activity after being solo for so long. This will be our 5th test together I think ?

Thx for the wishes for Finn. He’s feeling perkier. They’ll monitor him over the weekend and if he’s ok he’ll have his 2nd op and treatment on Monday.

After all the excitement of last weekend, and a long trip home was pleased both horses loaded again yesterday.
Local dressage champs which we'd qualified for.
Warm up test ended up retiring as she got really upset when a buzzard took off in the trees, sqawking and flapping, and then the temporary stables started flapping in the wind. Rode all the movements, missed all the canter (tried but was just bucking). Put my hand up before turning onto centre line. She fairly relaxed at the end.
Into indoor for champ class, and other than a rather exciting medium canter was as good as gold. No place but pleased with her.

Chilli’s X-rays we’re clear ?. I turned him out on his own as soon as the vet left and he had a lovely few minutes cantering and bucking - it amazes me how well horses manage themselves on box rest when all that energy is bottling up.

He was lovely on a hack tomorrow and today I’ll do a gentle walk schooling session to loosen him up. It’s great to be back on board.

This is what I got up to with @TheMule

The midget TB was a delight. Seriously fun and very good in a wavy sea. He doesn’t spook or buck so great for me at the moment. The Warmblood is so naughty at the beach being sharp that she is only allowed to gallop up hills until my brain goes back to normal.

Also managed to jump the Warmblood. I have had to avoid jumping her as she is sharp and my brain/balance is mush on chemo. Been going to cross fit once a week to sort balance and strength and today jumped her in a 20x40 which normally I hate but worked for her brilliantly as she can’t let rip. One buck I can sort myself out on and she can’t do more than that in a 20x40 as will hit the fence!

Our first team chase was AMAZING!
Perfect pony decided early on he was adamant he would be leading and jumped round brilliantly.

He was very sharp in the warm up, so I think next time I will walk him in hand around the lorry park for 20 mins and then just jump on for one practice fence- the whirlpool of teams in the warm up was far too exciting!
