Weekend plans?

Well I did even less today, booo! Got on rode for maybe 10 or 15 mins, realised I was tired again and really not enjoying myself, and felt like share horse wasn't really in the mood either (potentially fair enough, he'd just been on a 2 hour hack), got off and had a little cry about it before taking him in for a groom. It's horrible being in the land of not being quite well but also unwell in a very non-specific, foggy kind of way. Roll on next weekend, hopefully I will be properly better by then!

Have you had a virus? I had one just after Xmas, horrible cough and felt as if the life had been sucked out of me, it's taken 6 weeks for me to start feeling completely better although I was over the worst of the symptoms is less than two weeks.

I think I have. The cold symptoms I had (sore throat and cough) were actually fairly mild and only lasted a couple of days. It's added fatigue with a bit of dizziness and brain fog that have been knocking me out for about 10 days now. Sorry to hear that you had been so poorly.

Oh I had something like that over new year no cold symptoms just horrible nausea, dizziness and fatigue. Spent 5 days just lying in bed unable to get out. I felt quite pathetic.

Pony was so good, think she was a bit tired after our 5 mile zoom with the big geldings Friday and our hacking buddy had been out a lot as well so we just had a nice stroll in the sunshine. Even met the bus with no so much as an ear flick. Think we are both starting to relax a bit more with each other.

Dressage today was a success, it’s been a while since we were between the boards but he did two super sweet (if slightly green) tests for 4th and 2nd ☺

Just for fun, I know they aren’t quite the same angle but dressage this time last year (top) vs today (bottom). Still lots to work on, but to me, looks a much happier and more relaxed picture today, which is all I can ask! (Although my right hand still appears to be living in a world of its own… 😒)

Back to morning riding because I’m a bit too exhausted by the evening. This was yesterday, chilly but gorgeous.

I was relieved to discover yesterday that I’ve got a UTI at the moment and that might go some way to explain why I was feeling so unwell this week and that I’m not having some sort of lupus flare as a result of everything.
Still, I’m taking it easy and had a few hours on the sofa yesterday after work.

I also dropped my stirrups another hole ((3 down now!) and found that my ankle was much, much more comfortable, which was a huge relief. I’ll have to work on my leg not swinging around like a pendulum when I start trotting, mind!

After feeling not quite right on Friday Henry lunged sound yesterday so I had a little ride and he felt fine, so he came along to my rally today. He didn't just feel fine, he felt phenomenal, and worked probably the best he ever has.

He was HOT for our jump lesson, and took a while to settle. He found jumping in a group a bit worrying at first but he calmed when he had a bit of space and got to work. He jumped so well, in that he was pinging and using himself, if being a little extra. The whole lesson did wonders for my confidence because I was feeling sick with nerves before I rode but when I got on I focussed on what needed to happen and stopped worrying about the jumps. We didn't jump huge, probably about 80 which is the biggest I've jumped in a while.

Flatwork he came out a lot more relaxed, but still full of beans and a bit hot. He worked super hard and felt great. Really supple and so much cadence. He blew my mind a little bit. He feels so ready for our test, I just need to remember to ask him for more, and he will raise the bar!

Buzz had a great time at XC, he was really enjoying himself and jumped everything I asked him to with enthusiasm, which is great as he's been feeling quite flat and unenthusiastic with showjumping recently. So nice for him to be able to have a good time, he was squealing too :D and someone on a big fancy horse said they loved him which made my day ha.
We even did some of the 90 jumps which we haven't jumped SJ for a long time, he just felt so up for it!

Even managed some of the more 'scary' jumps with ditches etc that I normally avoid as I always think 'oh he hates ditches' bu tno he was having too much of a good time to think about them! What a good boy.

Update on my weekend: 2 very respectable 2nd places. Unfortunately only 2 and 3 participants in my classes. I miss the days when you didn't see less than 10 people per class...
Mr Metronome did a regular (if a bit steady in walk to avoid trotting) test. And didn't change lead in the counter canter! We got a (possibly a bit generous) 72%.
Little Madam jumped a nice clear round but simply didn't have the stride length to make 1st place against a friend's KWPN on a timed off section with no proper short turns. We're definitely more of a turn fast rather than a long stretch pair with our matching short legs.
Unfortunately, the day still ended in tears for me because I was exhausted from helping out all day and forgot my legs on one jump out of 11 and got shouted at by my instructor. He's very old fashioned, and just expects everyone to be perfect, no excuses (despite not actually being perfect himself). I took myself and pony off home at that point, which is a bit of a shame as there were two stallions coming up I wanted to watch.
Still very proud of both horses.
