So, our first 2 day event!! And my first time camping in a tent in a long time!
We got there about 7ish, put up a paddock for donovan so he was happy. Then it was time for the tent! It wasnt as bad as I thought, but still quite fiddly to put up, but never mind! A LA carte menu for dinner (pot noodle!!) then to bed. 1 o clock we had wind, we had rain, we had thunder and lightening, donovan was getting fretful as we had put a gazebo up for shelter for him, so that came down at 1.
The next morning we walked the marathon obstacles, which nearly killed me!! Dressage was at 2.22 so had plenty of time to get sorted.
I had warmed up for a while to settle him, entered the ring, and cantered straight up the centre line! Couldnt get him back to me, I think my nerves were coming through the riens to him. All in all the dressage was nothing to write home about.
We then went on to the cones which we went clear, but slowly. I wasnt bothered about the time, we were there for the experience.
We walked the obstacles again, then went to the bbq, but was in bed by half 9! Slept well the 2nd night, I think probably because we were just knackered!!
Sunday morning we walked the obstacles again, our time was 9.54. they had put me last in my group as I hadnt done it before so I could have some tracks to follow, which was really kind of them.
We got to the start, there was 6 of us in our class. the other 5 went off, then it was our turn! I was soooooo nervous! I actually sat there and cried! what a big baby!! we set of at a steady trot, went down a very very steep hill, where donovan broke into canter at the bottom. i tried a couple of times to bring him back to trot but he was having none of it, so we cantered for a fair way which he had got quite settled in. The obstacles came up, and I had a mind freeze!! My fantastic groom, (who happens also to be my OH!) was a star!! he talked me through all 6 of the obstacles, which way I was turning, where to go, I would of been completely lost with out him!!
We came back 3 minutes over time, which I dont think is too bad for our first big outing!!
We ended up 6th in our class, I went in with the thoughts of if I get round without being eliminated, I would be happy!
So, onwards and upwards from here. we have a one day event this Sunday, a much smaller affair, and I cant wait!!

Sorry, no pics at the moment, i will try and put a few on later.
