I'm thinking about going away for a couple of days in September, with the dogs, on my own...

It'll need to be in the UK (obviously) I dont mind some travelling although i'll only be going for 3 days so dont want to spend the whole time in the car (I'm in the midlands).

Not looking for anything specific, just a nice area to do lots of walking, I'd need a dog friendly B&B or similar (not sure i fancy camping on my own with 2 dogs!)

so if anyone has any ideas let me know please :)

The Charles Coton Hotel in Hartington, Derbyshire has recently been renovated and has dog friendly rooms. I met the owner at a recent chamber of commerce do and the pictures look lovely. Worth checking out, if it is far enough from you to feel like a holiday (I see you are in the midlands but not sure where....) lovely village though and lots of nice dog walking country around!

Thanks KK - I'll definitely have a look - t'internet is so slow just waiting for site to load (I'm in Leicestershire so it wouldnt be far to go, but i think its probably far enough to feel like I've gone away)

Have a look round the Castleton area of the Peak District, lots of places to stay and nice walking:)

Oh and if you want a dog friendly pub I can highly recommend the Three Stags Heads at Wardlow Mire, near Tideswell. Not very people friendly, but animals welcome.....

There are typically more animals than people in there and they may well be all over the furniture etc.

On one visit we found that as well as the usual dogs and cats there were two birds of prey (just sitting on the backs of the chairs in the main bar while their owner had a pint) and a guinea pig (looking slightly nervous about the birds and the lurchers...). Apparently they have had a pony in the bar in the past too. Basically if it can fit through the door it can come in. It is a tiny pub but may have in excess of 20 dogs on a sunday evening!

We've stayed at the 'Inn on the Wye' a few times, its a BandB, lovely pub that allows dogs in. Walks straight onto the River Wye. Its Ross on Wye, Hereford

Thanks RTE - they look beautiful, will definitely add to the list (fairly near the top if i'm honest!)

Naryafluffy - thanks for that link i'll have a look,
