Poppy's left eye is running and is obviously causing her discomfort. The white of her eye is pink so I suspect conjunctivitis? It is a little difficult to see exactly what is going on. Any suggestions as to what I could possibly do to relieve the discomfort before the vet comes in the morning?

Cold tea will be fine whatever it is. My old boy gets this all the time usually when it's a bit windy. I keep an eye on it and bathe it in tea, never had to call the vet as it usually settles down in a couple of days. That's just me and I respect your wish to call the vet, the tea would soothe it in the meantime and make your horse comfy. X

I also recommend cold tea bag method done this few times on horse's in past works a treat...keep doing it for a couple of days and if still inflammed and no better then yeah seek vet advice...

The cold tea bag gets a thumbs up from me too! Bertie recently had the same and after just 3 days of applying a cold tea bag to his eye twice a day, it was all cleared up. Cheap and natural :D
Bertie did try and drink the tea, bless him he likes a cuppa :D
