Weeping eye?

(Already written this but server ate it , so appologies if i miss out any vital info!!)

Brought my horse in this evening to find his nearside eye looking abit weepy, no gunk as such in it, just watery liquid in his eye and down his face. Looked as if he's been 'crying'!!!

Other eye is fine, seems fine in himself, and nothing obviously in his eye. Wiped excess liquid away but didn't fiddle too much as didn't want to irritate it.

Just wondered if any of you clever bunch could suggest what it might be and what you would do?

not sure about where you live but it has been breezier here in the past week or so plus there are still flies about. I wonder if it's just the wind/dust that is causing it as the ground is very dry here. Again not sure about your area

My loan horse had an eye infection that started like that, think it was flies or hayfever and he rubbed dust into it. best to rinse it if you can just by taking some cotton wool and water and squeezing it out above his eye (that's how the vet did it anyway, I couldn't get near!) And a fly mask to keep dust out from further rubbing (i kept his on at.night as well until it was better and still do sometimes if it looks weepy) . Hopefully that will stop it getting infected, but if it does you can get ointment from the vet or many people on here use human anti biotic ointment from the pharmacy

Probably just the wind, wipe the liquid away and smear some vaseline under the eye to stop the tears burning the hair off. Watch carefully for any sign of infection.
