Hi all
My daughters welsh section a pony has started with a weepy eye and his nose seems to be running. His eyes are clear and it as though he is crying the fluid just keeps dripping as does his nose.

The fluid in both eyes and nose are clear fluid with no signs of infection.

I just wondered if anyone knew what this could be and if i should be worried.

many Thanks in advance
Louise

Hi, this may not be the cause, but one of my horses had a clear discharge from one eye. I queried it with my vet a couple of times but we put it down to pollen or flies. Eventually, I noticed her breathing could be laboured on occasion, she was retired and a veteran and again assumed this could be pollen related but called the vet anyway. It turned out it was a sinus cyst. I had never heard of it but when she went to hospital they said the runny eye is one of the first symptoms. I hope I havent worried you but just to say it does need further investigation. hers was identified when they put a camera up her nasal passage - a bizarre thing but made total sense once we knew what it was

Thanks for the reply,

I am thinking towards hayfever or an allergy now as it is both his eyes and nostrils am keeping a close eye on him and if there is any change i will be ringing the vet straight away xx
