Are donkeys do much stronger than horses or are they just disrespected more. Watched Bethany in Egypt yesterday, I thing she is great. . .well did untill she got on the poor wee Donkey.

Bit of both? Donkeys can carry up to 25% of their body weight; mules about 20% and a horse closer to 10%. So they are stronger for thier size. But the plight of working equines worldwide can be dire.

10% for a horse? They can carry more than that.

Years ago when there were ridden donkey classes at the local agricultural show I think the maximum permitted weight of the rider was 8 stone (although I'm sure no one ever checked)
In third world countries donkeys probably carry as much as they can without collapsing :(

The donkey sanctuary recommends a maximum of 8st for standard sized donkeys i think. They will put up with an awful lot more than a horse though (poor little sods). So whilst an overloaded horse might buck/swish its tail a donkey will just keep going.
