If you can get a bale of this to try I would try it.What forage is she on? I found I could drop a the old boy's hard feed right down after swapping part of his haylage ration for alfalfa haylage in the winter. The horsehage alfalfa has a similar sugar and starch content to their high fibre (grass) haylage, but it is higher in protein and DE. Obviously that's no good if she can't have haylage full stop though!
Mine all found the alfalfa very palatable, despite it being quite stemmy.
I'm having good results with cushcare with my 16.1 TB. I am feeding 1/2 stubb scoop per day with 1 scoop beet pulp. I would feed with fast fibre instead as well but I already have to pay extra for the cushcare. He could do with a lot more but he looks pretty good for him but the cushcare isnt cheap. He is actually dragging me and the yard staff everywhere so he obviously feels good on it. I am actually contemplating to stop soaking his hay so will probably try over the winter after any grass flushes.Cushcare is excellent for weight gain. I ended up feeding a very small amount with some Fast Fibre as mine looked a little too well after a while.

Any oil based product.milled linseed, cool stance copra, rice bran, Optima. Ask your feed merchant or Google. They will all do the job, it's down to personal preference. Introdue slowly to the feed.InAny oil based product. Milled linseed, cool stance copra, vestigations are still ongoing regarding my little mini shetland's weight loss.
In the meantime, vet has suggested trying a weight gain feed that won't tip her over in to laminitis. He mentioned that Saracen do one (super high fibre cubes..?).
Are their any other feeds that would be suitable?
Good newsThanks all.
Well I've been sneaking a little bit of cushcare in to her regular feed for a few days now and she's still eating it!
Ive also been tossing in some of the spearmint flavoured high fibre treats to hide the smell of the new feed.
Better still she's getting her appetite back, so fingers crossed everything is going in the right direction.![]()
