What suggestions can you give please for a weight gain feed that does not have alfalfa in it. Pony currently having recommended weight of a & p calm and condition with chaff twice a day good quality hay, living in at night and out during day.

Alfalfa does not suit her at all so must be avoided.

ad lib haylage is best but if you want something in a bucket then sugar beet can be fed in large quantities its very conditioning and highly under rated:)

Second the free choice forage, and beetpulp, and linseed, and oil - doesn't have to be "special", any cheap vegetable oil from the supermarket will do the trick; introduce slowly, and don't feed more than 8 fluid oz. Chaff, BTW is usually just chopped up straw so won't add much feeding value.

I really like Baileys no1 cereal meal for weight gain. I used to give it to my tb along with Baileys no 4 and she always looked great on it. :)

Vegetable or sunflower oil plus sugar beet. I've never fed barley but I know people who do for weight gain. Top Spec cool condition cubes are great but you need to feed either a balancer or a vit/min supplement with them.
