I’ve taken over Sox’s care now as his owner was struggling with an old injury. I’ve upped his feeds to 3 per day and he’s turned out for 5 hours a day (restricted cuz of his leg injury and to make sure he eats his 2nd feed as he has a tendancy to be more interested in the grass) and have started walking him around the block just in a slow steady walk inhand to help stretch his leg and build his muscle slowly.
His bed for last night:

Ready for a walk around the block last night:

Weight wise - Some days he looks like he is putting the weight on, but other days he doesn’t. He is on 3 feeds a day (7am, 2pm and 7pm) of fast fibre, alfa a molasses free chaff, pink powder senior, limestone flour and lami free. We will be adding micronized linseed to his feed from the weekend. He also has 2 large haynets at night and a big tub trub of fast fibre in addition to his 3rd feed.

Has anyone got any other tips or advice?

I'm no expert but I would say he is gaining weight at a nice rate which I think is the best way, you seem to be doing a great job already, well done.

Thanks :) I suppose I see him every day so don't notice the difference as much as those that don't see him / don't see him very often.

He is double rugged at night (fleece and stable rug) until he goes out at 2pm and then rugged whist he is out - this week he's had a full neck medium weight rug on, last week in the lovely hot weather he had a light weight rug on

Obviously it's very differant rugging to help weight gain as so much of their feed is converted to warmth but just a word of caution, if it gets very cold he'll be wanting an electric blanket and a hot water bottle as well lol.

He looks like he's really improved since the last pic - you've done a good job. TBH I think he looks nice as he is now, although obviously lacking in muscle. I imagine you'd like a little more on him going into winter but it seems as though what you are doing is working so I'd stick with it. :)
