Weight loss/diarrhoea/protein loss IBS? infection?

Hello,

Firstly vets are involved and were waiting on more tests results, however I'm feeling very restless and just want to hear others experiences!
My sweet mare has suddenly dropped a lot of weight over the last two weeks and has very cow pat poos/diarrhoea. We now think she has been gradually slowly been losing weight for a while, but put it down to a change of routine etc. However this most recent weightloss is very obvious and she is generally a good doer.
Shes very bright in herself and still happy eating. Worm count was fine.

The vet has found that she's losing protein, so next tests are for infections (salmonella) and vet mentioned IBS and tumor :(. Does anyone have experience of any of this? Or any other outcomes with the symptoms? - weight loss, diarrhoea, protein loss from blood test

Hi sorry to hear about your pony xx mine was very sick with ibs lost weight but not dramatically just through not eating droppings remained fine , bloods were fine but had sever abdomen pain / bleeding into his andomen x will pm u xx
 
I would want this investigated very quickly- is the horse insured?
I've had one with IBS, he had mild colic signs over a number of days too, and one with tumors, she had a lot of pain very suddenly
 
Thank you for the replies :) it's being investigated don't worry! I just find it so useful reading others experiences on here especially as the vet really isn't sure at the moment. Today's job is taking in samples for tests for infections.
 
Actually got on at the moment being treated for inflammatory bowel disease- they opened him up as was acutely colicking and diagnosed it.
Treatment is with streroids, but it's very intensive and tough management. Unfortunately steroids will also improve symptoms of cancer in the short term so response to them is not diagnostic

My horse was also trwates for ibd but not hundred percent but vets cettain it was from
Bioopsy reSults intrestimf
To hear other peopels stories mine was initially treates with steroids but off everything in 6 weeks xx
