Hi all!

P has been fed raw since 6 months-ish, (he's coming up to 6yrs this September) I've recently switched from Natural Instinct to Nutriment and we've noticed he's dropped weight quite quickly. Has anyone got an idea if Nutriment is lower in fat than Natural instinct? The meat does look very lean!

@ the vets on 14th Aug he weighed around 7.5kg and today weighed at hydro and home he is a smidge under 7kg - 6.97kg
He's a leggy terrier and at his lightest he has been 6.2 when he was 9 months ish, but has been between 7.4 & 7.6 for the last 2 or more years!

I rang vets to check on his recorded weight and mentioned my worries and as he is acting rather normally they said keep an eye on him & keep weighing to see if it drops further.

Anyone have any ideas?

Why don't you just stick him back on the original food? You could add salmon oil or fish body oil to up his calories quickly, but I think returning to the Natural Instinct makes more sense.

I am not au fait with either food you are using. I feed raw and use the local butcher and feed a variety of meat including minced chicken, lamb, rabbit, offal etc. I also feed fish, pilchards in tomato sauce, eggs raw, including shells, lamb and chicken bones, raw. I also feed green tripe, a good source of weight gain. I suggest you go to a google site for a good read on feeding raw. I also feed ox heart.
I also feed Golden paste with yoghurt, dogs won't eat it without.
sorry if post a bit jumbled, on iPad.

Good suggestion CT.. however, I rather prefer Nutriments meat, quality looks much nicer and the smell also seems more appealing! I just wonder what the fat content is. I could always ring both companies I suppose!

He's never had the luxury of tripe, Janah. As he is allergic to beef and lamb tripe is so much harder to get hold of. I will have a google and see what i can find!

Thanks guys!
