highland pony 23 years old summer 521kg now 398kg
welsh 2 year old grossly ovewrweight when she arrived 345 in summer 243 today and won her youngstock class yesterday
laminitic dartmoor 13 year old 365 summer 288 today
All measured with the same tape both times
Really pleased as all still look a bit tubby but should manage the spring grass when it gets here as they are still on very little grass as its wet and not grown much. Keeping a very close eye on the laminitic one though as he is a pig

Oh wow, well done, I feel your pain managing fatties. It's an uphill battle at times but sounds like you've done a really good job!

Well done, its not easy with some of them who seem to grow on fresh air, so credit where credit is due - to you
I have one who came in fairly recently which I am struggling with weight wise, vet has seen him a couple of times, last time she saw him she thought he was must slimmer
and looking much better after poking and prodding him, he still looks like a coffee table to my eyes and I get quite excited when the weight tape is one measure difference to last time
so you must be delighted with how yours are doing

well done - I battle this with my Highland and New Forest and delighted at the moment as they both come in at a BCS of 3/5
Highland has gone from 511 - 456
New Forest has gone from 449 - 386

Give yourself a large pat on the back. I've got two natives and atm they are a perfect weight because the grass isn't growing!

Well done! We've just had a new fatty arrive so it'll be the main job over spring and summer. Have tried all winter to no avail to explain the health risks to a friend, whose horse is absolutely obese and is fed and rugged to the eyeballs. Some people just don't want to hear it.

It was actually highlighted as welfare concern recently by horse charities wasn't it - overfeeding & over rugging and having fat horses? Or even if it wasn't then it ought to be! So unhealthy when people let them get so fat :(
