Weight maintenance feed for 3 yr old?

I brought my new boy home on tues, he's a 3yo cob X tb, but with the move etc. he's lost a little weight, he isn't underweight at present, but i'd like to give him a little something to maintain his weight, will need to be non-heating, anybody any ideas? I'm not working him yet, just ground work, he is backed, so will probs start very light ridden work in another wk or so.
(I'm not an Alfa A fan, or cool mix fan has sent all my previous horses loopy! )

I always just keep it simple and have given my 3/4 yr olds a small amount of spillers H&p cubes and (i use alfalfa!) but maybe you could mix it with a chaff like hifi or happy hoof. Has always kept them looking and feeling good, and doesn't blow their brains!- if he doesn't need as much as that you could try a high fibre cube or go down the balancer route if you like to feed a balancer- there are loads out there.

thanks, thats what i was thinking. all of mine are fed happy hoof as their chop, but have a very good doer and very poor doer who is on veteran feed, think he needs a bit more than high fibre cubes, so h&p cubes sound ideal.

My 3.5 year old is looking absolutely brilliant on high fibre cubes and I think if you look into it, there is very little difference between them and H&P cubes.

My boy is on a handful of graze on gold blend, a quarter scoop of hifibre cubes and half a scoop ish of speedi beet twice a day with a good glug of sunflower oil (which is fabulous for condition and coat shine etc IMO)

Here he is just a few weeks ago. 17hh pure CB. Still very much growing!!

if yours is just 3 he will still be growing and WILL still be going through gawky stages. I wouldn't really be feeding any more than the basics. just a bit more bulk. - Mine looks terrible if he doesn't have enough fibre going through his gut. So if the grass is short he gets hay to supplement...
