weight of large slice of hay??

any ideas?

Trying to see how much my horse is getting a day but i cant weight it just because of the way its doled out in yard. He gets several sections....

Each slice is from a large square bale.

Anyone have a guess?!

Depends on the thickness of the slice....ours vary and the quality and how well its compacted! I guess ours are about 10kg each but may feel heavier because they are awkward to pick up! X Can usually stuff one wedge into a medium sized haynet as a guide.

It's a real 'how long is a bit of string' question

My hay this year weighs more per slice than last year for example, same fields, same supplier

I'd get hold of a slice yourself and weigh it, if this is not possible then I would guess that even if you knew how much a slice weighs you dint know how many slices the horse is getting making your question a bit redundant
