Weight on ponies =)

I'm not 100% sure, but it wrecks my head to see these "working hunters" in prime condition, but in reality are obese. I dont understand where the judges are coming from, do they not understand the dangers of laminitis??? Im fairness, an 11 hand pony should survive on half nothing to be a healthy weight, especially if it's only light hacking. Hope you get some responses that can give you weights and measurements!
 
Ah sorry I worded that question really badly! I actually meant the maximan rider weight ;)

Thanks, yes I agree obese horses are bad. This little pony is on less than 1/2 acre and nothing else for the summer but still has a wee tummy on him! Difficult to keep off though!
 
depends on build of pony really, my daughter has ust got her weight down to 8 1/2 st so she can ride our 12hh stocky pony but I would think up to 9st with a well balanced rider and only very light hacking.
