I recently changed my horses feed from livery pencils to livery mix as he is a fussy eater and the mix had mint and carrot in, he much prefers it!
But i noticed that the 3/4 of a scoop of mix i give him weighs A LOT less than the 3/4 scoop of pencils he used to get.. does this mean he needs more mix? or is it just that the pencils are heavier?
Thanks a lot!

It depends whether the new mix you are giving him has the same calorie content as the original nuts. The 'calorie count' should be on the bag expressed in terms of MJDE/kg. So if you were feeding nuts with a calorie count of 10 MJDE/kg and swapped to a mix which also has 10 MJDE/kg, then you need to feed the same WEIGHT of mix as you did of nuts, even though the VOLUME of mix will be greater.
