I have a 15.2hh 18yr old cob,he's normally a good doer and quite chunky, this is our first winter together and new yard/grazing he's stabled on a night out every other day gets plenty good quality haylege and fed a scoop if hi fi light and and 1/2 scoop sixteen plus but he's lost quite a bit of condition his teeth got done a few months ago, there's not much grass in the feild and he gets ridden once a week do I need to feed him anything more or different ?

If he's loosing weight then yes he probably needs more food. Given he's only in light work I'd avoid more hard feed and do more haylege both at night and in field (if you're allowed). speedibeet might also work well if he's already on ad lib haylage

He needs more hay or haylege if his loosing weight, or sugarbeet unmollassed is better or some fast fibre, I always find most horses will gain weight just by giving them more hay or haylege as long as there not too underweight.

Agree wi the above, our boy lost a bit of weight we think through the stress of moving yards, we upped his hay and he was back to normal in no time.
