I have only ever heard of weighted boots to improve jumping but some one has suggested they will improve hind leg action for dressage and build up back muscles if used in a controlled way in walk. Does any one have any ideas about this please. I was thinking of using them whilst horse is on the walker and taking them off before ridden work?? Any ideas or comments welcome ??

My personal opinion is that I'm not bothered enough about my horses paces or her jumping to strap weights to her legs.
But I do know someone who uses them on her show ponies and she does claim the work well but I think with paces or indeed jumping style they either got it or they dont....I think it's very old fashioned :S

Well my horse does not have it ! However she is the only one i will ever be able to afford so i want to make her as good as she possibly can be.

I use aerobics arm weights on one of my big lads back legs as he drags his toe due to old muscle damage.

I must say it's making a real difference even though it's not very heavy
