Just sheer nosiness! How tall are you, how much do you weigh, and what do you ride?

9 stone
5'9
The two I mainly ride are 15.2hh and 16.2hh. The smallest is 15.1hh but he's more or less retired.

I wouldn't put anything heavier than me (I want to lose a bit for his sake) on the 15.2hh, because he's sensitive and bruises like a peach! On the big one, nothing over about 12 - 13stone? He's fairly lightweight though. I wouldn't feel comfortable riding anything under 14.1hh, but I think that's my height more than anything...

I'm not sure if I believe in 'riding light', yes, you can stop bumping around on your horses back - but you weigh the same on the scales no-matter how you stand! I suppose if you were jumping this would apply more, but if you are a moderate rider, I imagine you ride your weight in w/t/c...

This old argument :D, as soon as you bring horses and weight out everyone has an opinion ane everyone's correct! To me it's a very hard subject as all depends on so much from balance to even capability as well as horse age and type. I am 10 and a half stones for my sins and am 5f6 and I ride a 15hh cob, I would like to think think he carries me well :p

I agree, depends on the horse! My 15.2hh has legs like matchsticks so I worry about squashing him!!

I was just wondering, people always say 'oh this weight shouldn't ride anything smaller than this' but never say what they weigh and ride!!

Also I would get on a 13hh for ten minutes if it was being ridiculous, but wouldn't ride it every day if you know what I mean?

I'm getting ready to be shot down.... I'm 5ft2, weigh between 10 to10 and a half stone (weight goes up and down... ) and my ponies are 12hh and 13h1.Neither struggle and i do long distance rides on both. Pic's are in my siggi
