My mum is living with me while i'm out of action (fell off horse and fractured a vertebrae) which means her two 1yr old Weimaraners are staying here too. One boy and one girl. They are gorgeous and I love em to bits. Very entertaining while i'm stuck at home most of the time but they can be so disgusting!

They eat anything and everything when they are out and about. I am used to having a Great Dane but have never known dogs to hoover the ground as much as them. They eat wood chippings, weeds, rotton apples, try to eat the flattened chewing gum on pavements and tonight the little madam came back in with something held in her mouth (we only knew that cuz Jasper was staring at her to intimidate her to drop it) a dead mouse. Gross.
They have been known to pick up baby rabbits and fieldmice and swallow them too. Also run around with a dead bird in their mouth.

I think they are worse cuz there is two of them and are always in competition with each other.

Does anyone else own Weimaraners? Are they similar or are my two just crazy?

Also do yours constantly lick? I'm not sure if it is a trait of the breed or if it is just them being submissive but Milly especially rarely comes near you without licking some sort of patch of bare skin. Especially gross when she has just had a dead mouse in her mouth. And she has a habit of eating poo whether it be her brother's or fox/sheep/horse. Blurgh.

Weimies no, vizslas yes and despite being smaller and 'russett gold' instead of silver they really are so very similar!

... this is a photo of Nala and Ruby on the beach... Ruby is eating seaweed

Aww puppies! I love em. So cute with their blue eyes. Do you have pics to share?

My mum rarely notices the licking anymore so I guess it must be something to get used to but when i'm told what gross thing they have eaten last time they were out I really dont want to be licked by em

I laughed a lot when I saw this post! Yep, they lick. I like to think it's a form of affection, but maybe I'm just deluding myself....and yep, mine is definately willing to try anything he finds, a bit like babies put things in their mouths to explore their enviroment, so does he! haha! Though he has been known to spit it out and will politely drop it at your feet if asked. But would much rather eat whatever it is! Considering that I was told that weimies can have dodgy digestion, not alot comes back up....
Mine also likes to lean on legs if we're stood still for any length of time. Just to make sure he's up and ready if any one moves, so he misses nothing. On the same principle, he will sit or lie on feet if we're chilling.
Oo ladylisa, a litter of puppies, how lovely. You're not very far away from me too!
