Weird calls because of adverts you've placed?

I've just had a really weird call from a withheld number on my mobile - a guy was asking if I wear riding boots, and when I asked him who he was he just asked me the same question again, so I hung up.

I'm wondering if it's because I put an advert on oodle yesterday looking for a horse share, but as far as I can see, the ad doesn't give my number http://horses.oodle.co.uk/view/competent-rider-available/2065809764-camberley-sry-en/

I think Oodle puts the ad on other sites too, like fb and myspace, but can't access these at works to see if my number is shown there.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? I know it's only a call but its shaken me up - I've placed similar ads in the past (though never on Oodle before) and never had any weird calls.
 
I've had wierd calls too! There was a really dodgy Norfolk guy before claiming to look like 'Beckham' and would keep on sending dodgy texts....didn't know him nor texted him back obviously! Just blocked his number. There were a few posts on here from girls from Norfolk who were experiencing the same too!

Another one was when I had my ponyup for sale....had some guy ring me up and start slating my riding [from a photo I had on the advert] and that I shouldn't have a photo up showing me riding with no hat. His words were something like 'You've got what looks like some poor little pony jumping a huge whopping log fantastically and then there's YOU on top riding completely **** and in what looks like wellies and not even a hat on!'

I was rather taken aback shocked into silence for the first few minutes as he continued to slate me and then I finally saw red and started to flip at him, then he hung up on me!
 
Yup - ive had a call asking if i ride the horse with a crop?

I thought it was odd - but was horse related so i answered sometimes.
He then said -

"Would you spank me with it?"
"In your long boots?"


Needless to say i hung up!
 
Did you put ads up anywhere? Have you given anyone inquiring your number?

People are odd. I used to work for a very high profile outfit and we occasionally got some odd calls, including one from a guy who wanted to know if we had any stallions and how "big" they were . . . :eek: :crazy:

It's a bit frightening but nothing is likely to come of it. Block the number and if he does call back, tell him to go away and play somewhere else. :)
 
i had a strange call one day , asking a similar questions but he went on to ask if i model for him with my riding gear and my horse saying
he was a professional in the modeling side
i sayed to him if he wanted that he should go to the red light district ,he put phone down and never phoned back
 
Non horse related weirdo but i was selling a pair of shoes on ebay last year and someone asked if i would be willing to email pics of my feet!! eww
