I went out on a hack yesterday evening, with my normally pretty sane but sometimes a bit grumpy horse. It was quite late so not too hot, he seemed chilled out when I got on him, I got to the end of the drive bit and there was a tractor coming which he didn't really like so he did a little dance so we pulled over in a big gap and let it go by quite calmly in the end (why he didn't like it I don't know, it's the same tractor that has been baling hay next to his field all day!) Anyway, we got down the little lane that leads to the fields and he just stopped. He would not move!! It was so strange, I got a little bit cross with him and he did a silly little rear and a little buck! Then he was pawing at the ground! He just kept pawing the ground then did a little spin then stood still again so then I got a LOT cross with him and he was dancing down the lane until we got on the fields and he was ok again!! He put in another few bucks in canter (he's only just started cantering, I backed him properly last July so am putting his bucking down to inexperience/wrong leg/not fit enough?? Am not sure help on this one!!). Eventually we got back quite calmly, down the same lane and he was happily back eating his haynet. Am not sure why he was so grumpy last night or why he was pawing the ground! Phew.. this has been a long post, sorry! Anyone have any ideas with the bucking? Have rung saddle fitter am wondering whether this is affecting his canter, he will never canter in the school, am putting this down to inexperience? Am now thinking it might be saddle.. ah any suggestions?!
