has anyone elses horses ever had a weird or funny acciedent, my horse mo was tied up outside her stable a while back eating hay, i was busy nattering as you do. i saw mo making funny faces so went over, she wouldnt stop chewing in a sideways motion, kind of like when you get food stuck in your teeth. so i asked my sis to open her mouth so i could look in, i gasped as i looked to the very back of her mouth, low and behold she had picked up a needle and thread, tried to eat it but instead it had pierced her gum right next to her molers. we tried to get it out but was un successful. so we phoned to vet, she answered in a nark but as i told her wat had happened she seemed quite interested, she came down and was amazed, she sed she had never seen anything like it before.
mo was sedated and it was finally removed, i cant believe how calm mo was.
has anybody else any funny weird stories to share.

oh that was so lucky she didn't get to the point of swallowing it!

Ermm my horses never really do anything weird like that, the weirdest thing that's ever happened is a few months ago Nimby was coming in with huge barbed wire like gashes all over one side.

We moved fields numerous times and Lantern didn't even have on cut. They were really deep - we never did work out what it was it just sort of.. stopped.

Yes my horse eats anything and once whilst mucking out, I came across a weird looking poo. Thought I should examine it and he had eaten a bin bag.

I was grazing him in hand and an empty crisp packet blew into the grass, before I knew what was happening, he had eaten it. I stuck my hand into his mouth and shouted, but I was too late, it was gone in a split second as he obviously knew he shouldnt.

He has also sampled cat sick which was in his stable last winter.

SUrely he has learnt his lesson by now!

I heard a wierd story once about a horse with a mysterious injury on his thigh that wouldn't heal. Although it didn't look terribly serious it was persistant and the vet looked at it and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't heal up.

Anyway, eventually, digging around in there, the vet found that a plastic bag had become embedded under the skin and that was the cause of the infection.

I don't think this story is true but it is a jolly good 'wierd and wonderful' story never the lss

My grey Ollie really is a bit odd sometimes, he is such a personality!

Ollie loves to sample your coffee out of a china mug, if you stand anywhere near him with a mug of coffee in your hand your in trouble, he grips the mug with his teeth and takes a very dainty swig, never once has he broken a mug, although on a few ocassions he has burned his mouth if the coffee is too warm but he never learns.

He also likes to east my smokes, that is his favourite hobby, the trouble is he is not quite so pleased when the end is lit and believe you me he tries, he wanders up to you and simply grabs hold of it when you least expect... he never learns 3 years on!

Then there was a time this summer when my kids and I were eating ice lollies at the stables, he leant over the stable door and grabbed my lollie and started munching, I panicked realising there was a wooden stick in it and somehow he managed to eat the whole thing and spit out the stick, I am so glad he didnt swallow the thing!

The good thing is he never bites or looks in your pockets he is an opportunist and really wants do do what we do
