Well i advertised i need some weekend help with my ponies, poo picking, tack cleaning, grooming and exercising.

So thought it'd suit a school kid wanting some extra lessons etc.

Well anyways its like buses no one replied then 2 did on the same day.

So i had a girl from the village come over and with her mum who said she was happy with all that i wanted, her mum couldnt afford lessons anymore.... but i couldnt see her ride due to the snow, so shes going to pop over in the morning for a quick walk and trot about. (as long as it hasnt snowed anymore)

But I had another girl pop come over this morning who said shes been riding for 5 years, had horses on loan etc etc. So i thought great she might be more suitable as my the 2 smaller ponies will take the mick if they can.

Anyways cut a long story short, I said i wanted to see her ride she said not a problem.... So i said i'd get on 1st as Teddi hadnt been ridden for a couple of weeks, i had a bit of a walk and trot about, he was quite fresh and went really nicely.

so i said are you happy to have a go, she said yes, her dad gave her a leg up, then she did one lap of the arena in walk. Then she said thats enough I want to get to know him 1st...... ermmmm.....????? What??? Her dad even said that she should do a bit more. But she was a bit adamant she wanted more time to get to know the horse.
It also looks like Dad is going to end up poo picking as he'll be staying for the few hours I want her to work.

Just found it all a bit odd, they live quite far away and the area they live in has lots of livery yards so dont understand why they will come out all this way.

what do you all think of this. I haven't made a real desicision on this, but without even seeing her trot i wouldnt put her on the little ponies, but they are the ones that desperatly need the exercise. (and her lower leg was really far back - nothing that shouting heels down wouldnt fix though lol)

Well i've said i'll get the 1st one to ride as she was nice and quiet and then if she is ok, to do maybe a trial day.

But think you are right dont think the one that came today really will be suitable.

I'm a huge believer in trusting your gut feeling, and by the sounds of it your gut feeling is telling you something's not quite right. If you are not 100% happy, don't do it.

Hope you find someone suitable soon though x

your right, i'll call in the morning and let her knows I think shes unsuitable for what I want.
