I had the saddler out this morning to refit my boy's saddle. He's got a lot fitter since he's lived with me and his saddle was slipping a bit.
So he arrives and looks at the pony's saddle and tells me that really it's flocked to the max and can't take any more so horsey needs a narrower saddle... and goes to his van to have a look what he's got..(Huge sigh - huge expense coming up).
meanwhile I nip into my tackroom and pull out my fave saddle (An albion legend 5000 dressage) which I know is a 17W (that's been in there for 10 years cos I can't bare to part with it as it's the most comfy saddle I've ever ridden in) Anyhow he returns from his van saying he'll have to come back as there is nothing the right fit in there that would do... and I ask if he'd take a quick peek at my saddle. He sticks it on and mmms and ahhs and tells me that it needs very little tweaking to make it perfect and that the tree shape was made for my boy and that the standard albion flocking is a bit much for my boy but very minimal tweaking will sort it out... So not only does my fave saddle fit (it felt fantastic to ride in it again today) it saves me buying a new saddle.
